Cartoon Network and PAX East
Good morning, beloved backers!
You may remember over the last few updates we’ve cryptically hinted at a big announcement that we were waiting to be able to...err...announce. As of today, we can finally do just that, and here it is:
Monsters Ate My Birthday Cake will be published by Cartoon Network!
If you happened to be casually perusing Joystiq this morning, you may have noticed an article (view here) that corroborates this announcement, and it is with this article’s publication that our NDA is lifted and we can finally talk about it! Hooray!
Now, we understand that there may be some concerns as to what that means for the game, and we’d like to squash any concerns here and now that the game will be different than what we originally planned and what you sponsored.
From the very beginning of our talks with Cartoon Network we were clear that our loyalty was to you, our backers, and they have been nothing short of supportive every step of the way. They have not tried to guide us in any new directions or convince us to change any aspect of the game. Instead, they know that we have a vision and have allowed us total creative control, cheering us on along the way.
Other things to note:
Disasterpeace and Jordan Fehr are still on-board, and their work is sounding fantastic.
We will be utilizing Cartoon Network’s localization team, meaning that the game will be translated into several languages.
While we can’t give a specific release date yet, we can say that we are closing in on completion of the game and it will definitely be out this summer.
Oh, and one more announcement: we’ll be at PAX East this weekend at Cartoon Network’s booth, with a playable demo! We love meeting our backers, so if you’re attending this event, make sure to stop by and say hello!
Thank you all so much for your continuous support!
