About this project
Ready to bless your plate with Hot Biscuits, Smokey Grit Waffles and Deep Fried Pickled Pig Feet!
Skillet Rose is a one stop Soul Shop offering savory sweet dishes that have a devotion to honoring the culinary contributions of the Afro-American Community.
I give praise and thanks to the Pastures,Grit Mills, Bro Benton and the Milk & Honey that flows through my kitchen from the Great American South and beyond.
My Prayer is to continue to bless people with this timeless cuisine as I proceed with the production of my food truck and future build out of a restaurant. The above title expresses my need to continue the growth of the buisness and my growing fan base who are all fired up for the next chapter in the Skillet Rose journey.
Why are you raising Funds and How does Kickstarter work?
The money will be used to pay for the production of the truck, along with the new convection oven ,the meat grinder, kitchen supplies, the graphic design wrap for the truck, insurance, permits and staffing for the truck.
The Kickstater fund is a all or nothing platform to help creative individuals raise money for their business ventures,so if I don't raise the goal of $72,000 I don't get the funds for my project.
Can you please name some of the farmers and food vendors you work with?
To name a few they are:
Gina Marie Cream Cheese, Cowgirl Creamery, Benton's Smoked Ham and Bacon,Four Sister Farms,War Eagle Mill,Pamplie Butter, Fresh Made Creme Fraiche from Market Hall in Oakland,Ca , Marin Suns, Kentucky Pure Cane Sorghum,Old Mill of Guliford, Riverdog Farms, Tomatero Farms, Full Belly Farms, Bob's Organic Apples, Le Sanctuaire Spices, Greenwind Farm Maple Syrup from Vermont and Oaktown Spice Shop,Amen Bee Products.
In addition to the above purveyors, Oakland has a huge selection of fruit trees and herbs that I also forage from. My family and neighbors have apple, fig, avocado, lemon, grapefruit trees, that I also, get many of my ingredients.

Where will your truck be located?
Downtown Oakland @ 20th and Broadway area
Kaiser Hospital, in front of the Fabiola Building
Oakland A's Game @ Oakland Coliseum Bart Station
Port of Oakland @ Maritime and Grand Ave.
Their are a few truck pods and food truck parks ( www.offthegrid.com) throughout the Bay Area that I'm applying for also
Risks and challenges
The challenges that I faced are the zoning laws that are in the Oakland area. There is talk at city hall to figure out a way to fit the food trucks into the scope of the community .
In San Francisco, Berkeley and Alameda there is an organization called Off the Grid, that gives people access to food truck gatherings. Off the Grid started in San Francisco to allow food trucks to gather and sell their wonderful food with live music. It's open 7 days a week for lunch and dinner with usually two different locations a day. There also is a Food Truck Park in San Francisco.
In addition , there are some great locations in my hometown of Oakland , where my food truck will be , Downtown Oakland , Port of Oakland, Kaiser Hospital , Various Farmer's Markets and Oakland A's Games. There is a lovely selection of food festivals in the bay area that I will be apart of.
Rosenblum Cellars in Alameda and Ohmega Salvage in Berkeley have all said that I can park my food truck in front of their establishments.
Also we need the above goal to proceed with production of the truck. The profits from the truck will allow us to later move into a permanent location.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
