As one of the early backers I took the "wait for next model" option when this first came out.

I never got *any* unit and now the company will not respond to me in any way.

Has anyone had luck reaching them for fulfillment or should I consider this a fraudulent campaign and report it as such? I don't want to over-react but I also don't want to lose my $500 pledge to a scam.

How do I attached the battery to the VIndur???
How do I get the Vindur to stand up without stabbing it into the ground?

    16. Andreas Hitzig

      on

I had received some weeks back one of those Vindur portable wind turbines.
After several attempts I now give up making it work. Yesterday we had more than 20 kts of wind with gusts up to 30 kts. Never ever would Vindur start to rotate on its own. If I turn it manually I observe a big disalignement, the central axle is not rotating central, its swinging around and of course the propeller just amplifies this misaligned movement. I made several attempts to correct this, hoping that one day it will work.
This day will never come, this product is not worth a single dollar spent and has absolutely nothing in common with the product I had pledged for in this campaign. I feel betrayed and now on top of that, I have to pay for the disposal of that scrap.

I think @carrie is mixing in a different Kickstarter. None of these were ever produced and the guys behind are wanted for fraud on Iceland...

Husband got his order, but I didn't get mine ?!? Great minds think alike?

    21. GEORGE E NEWMAN on

I read their page on Kickstarter and it still reads "order yours here". Why would Kickstarter allow this? Is there notsome point when Kickstarter becomes liable if a project fails and they still allow orders ? And why does it seem we paid for https://janulus.com/product/vindur-portable-wind-turbine/ which appears to be a fan set up in a windy field.

UPDATE: they've emailed me directly, requesting I take the survey after my post below, so they're clearly still checking these comments. Despite the product being nothing like what was originally funded, it sounds like they're trying to just get through what's clearly been a pretty awful experience for everyone involved.

Anyone still interested might as well fill this thing out, wrap this up, and move on. On Kickstarter you're funding a chance at fulfilling someone's dream, and sometimes that just doesn't work out.

Best of luck to all, project creators included.

    24. John P. on

I've not heard, seen, or received anything from these folks. Are we talking class action yet?

    25. Serge Sozonoff on

I just received the "new" version Vindur, I will be getting around to trying it shortly. Though its not anything like what I pledged for I am happy that the guys from Janulus made the effort to produce and deliver something despite everything they have been through. I mean I am still waiting for fricking T-Shirts since like 4 years from the "Radiate Athletics" campaign I backed!!

Has anyone contacted kickstarter about the recent update on this site in March 2017, and the email that was sent to backers on/around 17/03/17. Keen to understand whether this is an extension of the scam, which I 99.999% think that it is. The URL behind the "janulus.com/rh16/trinity" link in the shipping update email was some totally suspicious link that unsurprisingly I have not clicked on: "rafver.is/sendy/l/No4xK76392tJBiQ8/ERiz2R3rt12gXfb5wNiym89wkrJAzj477u/UnBuze2gwQgtjVwFmFQ89w". Looks like a hack or a continuation of the rubbish that has been going on to date, with kickstarter again not being on the ball here......(no surprise there). Anybody have an additional observations or insights on this?

Yes, I receive too a mail from Janulus (but impossible to know if it's real or account has been pirated).

The other major problem, if it's real, is that that the new version of the final product ishorrible. and not at all like the one I pledge... it's missing too the 15.000 mah battery that is not include anymoreanymore... the new model of the product seem very cheap compared to the price that I pay for the original.

I don't quite understand how these guys aren't in jail yet. It's one thing to run a fraudulent Kickstarter campaign, but Einar Ágústsson didn't stop there. Is Iceland a haven for criminals?

@Robert Maefs: Thank you for the links to the news stories on the fraud brothers.

I have not asked for a refund for this project nor for TOB cable, which I also backed. On the TOB cable comments page, John H. Halpern, M.D. states:
"I asked Kickstarter customer service to help us because the Creator had 2 other projects cancelled for fraud and money returned to Backers but this TOB cable project was allowed to remain and was a fraud too."

Can anyone confirm they received a refund? If yes, what were the steps taken?

Has anyone any information on where to file charges with authorities in Iceland? Even if this will not lead to our getting our money back, it might help the authorities prosecute the fraud brothers on further charges than the investment embezzlement.

@Kickstarter: I hope this comment conforms to the definition of "respectful and considerate".
