The Ogre Designers' Edition raised nearly a million dollars from you, the Kickstarter backers. At the time, it set the record for boardgame support. When it was delivered, it was the biggest commercially produced game box ever. It still is.
One of our promises in that campaign was to release a supplement with more maps. This is it. Battlefields is full of Ogre goodies, including an updated rulebook, new counters, and maps. And what maps they are!
In its initial form, this set will include one 28.5" x 33" gameboard with a map on each side: G-3 and S-3. These maps have never before been available in this scale, and likely never will be again. They are suitable for play both with the counters provided and with the Ogre miniatures.
A key stretch goal (NOW REACHED!) is to replace the double-sided gameboard with two two-sided boards, so they can be placed side by side for an even huger combat zone.
NOTE: The new gameboards are the same size as the G.E.V. maps found in the Ogre Designer's Edition game. Each map is two separate boards, which offers even more flexibility when geomorphing these new maps with the earlier release.
Swimming Ogres! 3-D radar stations! Light Artillery Drones and Heavy Weapon Teams! And the long-awaited Revetments!
There are some old favorites as well. If you didn't get a Ninja when the ODE first launched, here are two. Plus a Vulcan and a Fencer-B. And more Marines!
The most up-to-date version of the rules, consolidated and still in 32 pages, including the Combat Engineering rules.
What's a gorgeous map without scenarios? Battlefields includes four pages of scenarios created for the new maps and showcasing the new units.
This is not a stand-alone set. We made it for our dedicated Ogre players, and it requires a large-scale copy of Ogre to play . . . either Ogre Designer's Edition or Ogre Sixth Edition. If you don't have a big Ogre, of course, you can get Ogre Sixth Edition as part of this campaign.
If you have the Ogre Designer's Edition, this set adds two green maps to the four you already have, and provides a slightly updated rulebook.
If you have Ogre Sixth Edition, this set introduces you to the wonder and terror of different terrain types with two huge GEV-style maps. Welcome to the joys of maneuvering Heavy Tanks through swamp, or using a treeline to block enemy GEVs. Terrain is good!
BATTLEFIELDS is a pretty darn good package as it is, but if you support us with enough copies, we can beef it up further. The first stretch goals are PDFs, which cost us nothing but time. The later stretch goals make the game costlier to print, but if we're selling enough, it comes out fine.
$35,000 - MAP PDFS. We will release both maps, G-3 and S-3, as high-resolution PDFs.
$37,500 - NEW SKINS. We will release a set of three "re-skin" PDFs for the Nightfall counter set. Starting with the Nightfall set, available from Warehouse 23 and as an add-on during this campaign, you can transform its counters and Ogres to “fill out” the forces of some of the other factions in the Ogreverse. The Vatican Guard, Nihon Empire, and others, as developed in the Sponsored Counter Sheets, now can have the same units available as the Paneuropean Federation and North American Combine. Truly epic multi-faction battles are but a skin away!
$40,000 - OVERLAYS IN THE BOX. Every set will get an 11" x 11" sheet of die-cut map overlays, including town, destroyed town, lots of water, and BEACHES!
$42,500 - CARDS IN THE BOX. Every set will get a set of six two-sided, erasable Ogre record cards - one for every Ogre in the set. One side has the boardgame stats, and the other has the minis stats.
$46,500 - DOUBLE OVERLAYS IN THE BOX. We'll duplicate the sheet of overlays for every set. Twice the map-hacking awesomeness!
$50,000 - MORE NEW SKINS. We will release three more "re-skin" PDFs for the Nightfall counters.
$55,000 - DOUBLE MAPS IN THE BOX. The big one. Instead of one two-sided gameboard, every set will include two one-sided boards that geomorph together. This doubles the size of your new play area, and the maps can be combined in four different ways!
$60,000 - QUAD MAPS IN THE BOX. The bigger one. Instead of two one-sided gameboards, every set will include two TWO-sided boards. Flip over S-3 and get S-1, currently only found in the Designer's Edition. Likewise, flip over G-3 and get G-1. That makes 16 different possible combinations. "Battlefields," indeed!
$70,000 - SKINS AS COUNTERS. We will select two of the unlocked PDF counter sheet skins and produce them as die-cut, ready-to-play counter sheets packed inside the Ogre Battlefields box.
$80,000 - MORE COUNTERS! Another two sheets of the unlocked stretch goal counter skins will be produced as printed counter sheets and packed inside the Ogre Battlefields box.
$90,000 - WE HEAR YOU LIKE COUNTERS! The last two sheets of the unlocked stretch goal PDF counter skins created as sheets and included in the Ogre Battlefields box.

After the Kickstarter project closes, and after all pledges are collected, we will open the BackerKit pledge manager. There, you will tell us your Warehouse 23 email address, provide your physical address, and pay for shipping. See the FAQ for estimated shipping costs.
Please note that any taxes or customs fees are exclusively your responsibility, and these fees will be determined when the shipment arrives in your country. We also cannot guarantee that an order will not be confiscated or rejected by your country's customs.
If you wish, you may choose to use a fulfillment service. This allows you to pledge for the project and then provide us with a U.S. address for delivery of your rewards. Forwarding from the fulfillment service, as well as any local fees, is your responsibility when using a fulfillment company.
Risks and challenges
Steve Jackson Games is an established game publisher with a successful track record and we have enough Kickstarter experience to deal with issues should they arise. This will be our 20th campaign! The set has already been designed and print buying completed; now you're going to tell us how many to print and what extras to pack into the box! As we've done in the past, we will stay in touch with our backers during and after the Kickstarter, all the way through fulfillment of the rewards.
Please note that the July 2019 delivery date is an estimate. We will do the best that we can to meet that date, but the complexities of game manufacturing combined with international shipping sometimes leads to delays. Additionally, backers in some regions may receive their rewards before others; the games will be shipped to the United States where they will be packed for individual shipments and then, in some instances, forwarded to partners in other nations for final fulfillment.
- All gone!
