Birth of the idea
Hi, I'm Rupert Scott and I'm passionate about great tasting, succulent sausages! I love the juicy taste that you get from cooking under the grill. But about 12 years ago, as I was cooking some sausages, I realised they would be a lot more enjoyable if it were easier to cook them and wash up afterwards.
I began to consider how to achieve the following:
- stopping the sausages from rolling around once they begin to curve (even a small amount makes it difficult)
- obtaining an all-round, evenly cooked batch of sausages
- ensuring the grill pan fits easily into the sink and dishwasher
- making the washing up far less messy by stopping fatty water spraying all over your clothes and the kitchen wall!
11 years later I set my mind to really solving this problem and developed the patent pending Sizzll sausage pan.
With so many great quality sausages available today, why not enjoy their delicious taste but with less faff, less fat and more fun?!
The benefits of cooking with the Sizzll sausage pan
1 Less faff
('Less hassle' if you're not British!)
Please note: the pan is simply resting on the hob as a heat resistant surface. The pan is not designed to cook the sausages on the hob.
2 Less fat
3 Handy dimensions
4 Sustainability and materials
The product will only be made from European stainless steel suitable for cookware products, to ensure that it is the right grade (304) and quality for cooking. The product can easily be recycled – but it will last a lifetime if looked after. The little waste that is created during manufacture will be recycled.
In order to control the quality and material selected, it will be completely manufactured in the UK.
5 The perfect gift
My market research shows that if you love sausages (and the vast majority of us do) you will almost certainly be delighted to receive one of these as a gift – whether you are young or old, male or female. Useful but quirky, substantial yet affordable, it is the perfect gift for those for whom you never know what to buy. So Christmas, birthdays, Mothers’ Day and Fathers’ Day are all sorted!
In addition, why not use your Christmas gift money to treat yourself to one?
Final stages of development
After a year of research and development all that remains is to invest in the tooling (which takes one month to complete) and manufacture the first batch.
An established, family-run, UK-based cookware company will be making the tooling and the final product.
The vast majority of the cost of this project lies in the tooling, which is why your support through Kickstarter is so important and appreciated.
The programme (historical and to complete) is as follows:
So, let's get sizzlling!
Risks and challenges
Providing the target funding is achieved, I will have sufficient funds, including my own personal loan, to cover the cost of tooling, production and delivery of all the rewards promised in this campaign.
In 1988 I gained a degree in Production and Operations Management from Nottingham University. Since then I have held a wide range of roles including: production management, R&D, quality management and marketing. For this project I have used experienced people in the world of press design, tooling and manufacturing to help get the best final result.
The risks for you are negligible because:
- your outlay is relatively inexpensive compared to other Kickstarter campaigns
- the product has been extensively researched
- the product will be carefully made in the UK under my supervision
- if the campaign is very successful we can make large quantities easily, which is the beauty of a pressed product.
