The money that people pledge is only taken if we reach our goal by Wednesday July 17th.
If we don't reach our Kickstarter goal of £14,500 we get nothing!
Our budget is tight, and this is the goal we need to reac to complete the project.Last updated:
We liked the community feel of Facebook and being able to play with your friends. We also noticed that there were no truly scary games on Facebook and we saw this as a gap in the market.
We loved the idea of the players creating the fear and scares in the game, so we wanted to let people play as the bad guys – the Spirits. We also wanted to be one of the first truly multiplayer games on Facebook, where you can interact with other people in real time.Last updated:
When the production is complete (Summer 2014) the film will be released through the game before its release in cinemas.
The film will be released to all players at the same time who have reached a certain level of collectible lore in the game. We can't release what that level is yet as we're still in development, but we can say that it won’t be too difficult to achieve.Last updated:
A Banshee is an old lady ghost who screams in the night and predicts someone's death.
In the game: if you're playing as a Human, the Banshee's scream will mark you and advertise your position to all the Spirits nearby. The players who are controlling the Spirits will be looking to fulfil the Banshee's prophesy by scaring you to death, and thereby gaining extra experience points.
Your job is to survive.
In the film: our two paramedics hear the Banshee scream after tending to an old lady in the road and as they they must also retain their sanity and survive as the terror closes in.
Banshee is part of Welsh horror legend (we're a Welsh based company) and there will be a lot of that mythology in the game and film. If you hear the scream of the Banshee, you will be scared to death.Last updated:
If you die as a Human, you change sides and become a Spirit to take vengeance on the Humans.
If you're a Spirit, you can be resurrected and become Human again.
The gameplay is very different for both sides - one is to survive, one is to build up your experience by scaring the Human players. We hope people will enjoy switching between the two, or surviving as long as possible as Human or Spirit.Last updated:
There will be two teams - the Emergency Services (Humans) and the Spirits. The Humans’ vision is limited to areas that have light. This light can come from a number of sources such as flashlights, street lights and car headlights, for instance.
Light will be painful for the Spirits, while the Humans will use it to fight the Spirits, gain territory and seek out lore. Spirits will hide in the darkness and use their abilities to scare other players.Last updated:
The territorial control works though light - the areas of the map that Humans have managed to control will be brightly lit, while in the areas that the Spirits control they will have knocked out all the lights, as they can see in the dark and use it to hide in.Last updated:
For Humans, to keep the lights running in a city area is no easy task. Flashlights require a steady stream of batteries for power, street lights require a working power substation and not be temporarily knocked out by a ghost's ability and flares are hard to come by. Light will signify safety to the Humans but it will not last forever.
While the Humans use items that emit light, the Spirits will use their spectral abilities. Both teams will unlock the ability to use better items / abilities as they take control of the city, defeat members of the other team and discover the surrounding lore.Last updated:
Since the game is being developed on the Unity, a cross-platform game engine, it’s very possible we may see Banshee being released to other platforms.Last updated:
We hate spam requests asking people to join a game. Instead, the game environment will be littered with hidden collectible lore that reveals part of the mystery behind the banshee. Upon collecting a piece of lore the game will request to post it to their timeline – which will be part of the story, artwork or trailer for the film. We hope this will be interesting enough for friends to actually read the notification and check out the game.
There will be no requests sent to your friends asking them to join.Last updated:
With the support gained from the Kickstarter campaign we will be able to make Banshee the best it can be. We want to encourage our supporters to contribute their thoughts and ideas to us, so we can create something that we can be truly proud of.Last updated:
