Thanks everyone! If you missed the Kickstarter campaign, you'll still be able to get Pandante at sirlingames.com.
This rebooted kickstarter offers a much less expensive option for beautiful clay poker chips and the same great gameplay as before.
When I saw how the Pandas gambled, I had to bring it over and share it with all of you. Everything about it is familiar, yet different. The cards are oversized to fit their paws. It's sort of like Texas Hold 'Em poker, but you don't have to know anything about that to play it. The whole game centers around constantly lying, which makes it a lot of fun. While they have a way of playing it for real money, they also have a way that makes for a great social or family game for 2 - 6 players.
- Heavy emphasis on bluffing / lying
- No player elimination
- Much less folding than in Human Poker
- A few special abilities really spice it up
- A gold fairy gives you money if you really need it, but then you have to frolic with the fairy for a while.
- It's actually fun to play for its own sake, when no real money is on the line. The Pandas are laughing and joking the whole way through!
- You can also play it with real money...if you're Panda enough!
- 180 *clay* panda poker chips in 4 denominations (that's plenty for 6-players)
- Minimalist box with leatherette textured finish and magnetic latch
- Oversized 79 card deck with tuckbox (good for Panda paws)
- 6 player boards for betting
- Dealer button (higher quality than standard version)
- KICKSTARTER EXCLUSIVE: 6 DIAMOND challenge cards (you still get normal challenge cards too)
- --more free items from stretch goals will be added here--
- $5 savings off MSRP (unless we raise enough to lower MSRP)
- Oversized 79 card deck with tuckbox (main deck, 6 Panda Lords, 6 challenge cards, 6 rules reference cards)
- 6 player boards for betting
- Dealer button
- --more free items from stretch goals will be added here--
- (Supply your own chips or money tracking)
- At the $40 level — KICKSTARTER EXCLUSIVE: 6 Blivand challenge cards with just a period on the back for no-challenge, rather than rules text (you still get normal challenge cards too)
- Also at the $40 level — 6 panda poker chips to use as card guards or souvenirs.
- 61 card main deck
- 6 Panda Lords
- 18 cards to construct the "board" for each of 6 players
- 6 challenge card
- 1 dealer card
(Supply your own chips or money tracking)

In Pandante, you try to make the best hand you can from your two private cards and a few other community cards shared by all players. As more community cards are revealed, you claim which hand you have by marking your bet on your board:
Or if you have the travel version, the board looks like this:
As the gambit continues, you make more bets but you can never go down in what you're claiming your hand is. Toward the end of each gambit, there's a chance to do up to two abilities, which you can also lie about. You can call out liars on their abilities, and on their claimed hands at the end of the gambit.
The highest honor in Pandante is to win a hand by lying. That means no one called you out on it, and you somehow got away with it. When that happens, you can reveal your cards to gloat, and you get one of the six PANDA LORDS to watch over you, as a reward.
Rodney from WatchItPlayed demonstrates the game in the video above.

You can also buy the print-and-play version right now, without waiting for this kickstarter to end.
All the beautiful, minimal graphic design of Pandante was created by European designer Hectóre Blivand (@blivand). Blivand is a high fashion designer who likes to remove all the elements of a design that he can without hurting the functionality, and then to remove some more. I think that really shows with his work on Pandante. Read more about it here.
Blivand also designed a special poker deck in the same minimal, elegant graphic style as the rest of Pandante. It's oversized and for some reason contains an extra rank of face cards, called Wizards. What's up with that?

Thanks to your support I can continue to publish great games. I focus on games that still stand up after thousands of plays, and that means a lot of time goes into each one. It’s only possible to keep doing that because so many of you have appreciated the value that creates, and for that I’m extremely grateful.
I hope you enjoy Pandante as much as I do. To get into the spirit of things, I made some desktop and mobile wallpapers for you to enjoy. (They’re on sale for free, here.) There’s 14 resolutions for each of two different Pandante designs, and also for each of two different Fantasy Strike designs.
I hope you’ll back Pandante by clicking the “Back This Project” button at the top of the page, and let other people know about it so we can meet our stretch goals. Tell them to follow Sirlin Games on Facebook for more updates.
Thanks again for supporting my ability to make games such as Pandante. Our success here will help fund Yomi and Codex as well.
President, Sirlin Games
Risks and challenges
The game is nearly print ready and I've been through this process several times before. The main risks are unexpected delays during manufacturing or shipping. I've tried to schedule enough time to cover this, and Puzzle Strike's kickstarter did ship on time, but you never know. I think the risks on handling order processing and shipping in a timely manner are low because Game Salute is handling that and they have done it many, many times before.
Although I have overseen manufacturing of several games, the poker chips are a new item. The samples look good, so I expect it to go well.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
