This Kickstarter is meant to help cinematic, prog/post-metal instrumental group Sioum record their 2nd full-length. Previously, we have struggled to record, self-engineer, and pay for all of the costs associated with production and merchandise. Since the release of our first album "I Am Mortal, But Was Fiend" in 2010, we have spent the last almost 6 years preparing new music! Now, we are finally ready to release it.
We want to provide fans of past, present, and future with the best possible representation of our art. This project is over five years in the making - it's everything to us, and the result of this album release will have a monumental impact on our success and future as career musicians. Recording with a professional audio engineer gave us the opportunity to create a high quality album without any recording or mixing flaws, and saved us an incredible amount of time. Instead of struggling to produce the album ourselves (it took 8 months of labor - day and night - for our first album!), Yet Further took only a few weeks.

We have the music. But now we need the means to get the final vision for Yet Further in your hands. Monetarily, this Kickstarter addresses that. It will allow us to produce CDs, vinyl, and t-shirts. Your pledge and a successful campaign will mean producing our merch faster and more efficiently. By safely avoiding considerable credit card debt (that would take months, if not years to work off,) it will instead allow us to launch the album strong. We'll be able to quickly begin playing shows, setting up tours, and generally focus on promoting the album.
Being able to sell CD's and shirts is a costly but necessary tool for an emerging band's ability to support themselves, and the growing resurgence of vinyl sales is a formidable up-front cost to produce (in many situations, vinyl is extremely expensive without help from a label, or without a considerable following.)
Overall, having access to a recording engineer allowed our music to see it's full, professional potential, and now, subsequent merchandise will allow us the means to continue making music.
Engineering, mixing, and mastering: $3900
The total cost for vinyl, digipaks, and t-shirts: $6,000

Risks and challenges
The biggest risk for us, undoubtedly, is not being successfully funded. The debt we acquire will be substantial, and without the help of our fans, we will have to postpone touring and promotion for quite some time while we struggle to pay off the debt from one credit card to the next.
Another issue that may show up is delays in production caused by errors in the digipak or vinyl manufacturing process. Thankfully, although we would be set back time-wise, we would simply need to report the error, and then wait longer until we had the corrected product.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
