Want to see more of Arthur C. Clarke's incredible (and incredibly accurate) predictions for the future?

Posted by Singularity&Co. (Creator)

Hey Singularity Supporters,

If you enjoyed our recent video featuring clips of Arthur C. Clarke, your mind might just melt upon viewing the source material: an episode of the BBC's Horizon program, filmed at the 1964 World's Fair, starring Arthur C. Clarke and his stunningly prescient predictions for mankind in the 21st century and beyond.

Wonder as Sir Arthur walks us through the technical achievements of the latter 20th century, then yet to come, and describes the social conditions those breakthroughs would allow. Marvel as he details the very mode and medium of communication you are using to watch him describe it, half a century ago!

It's truly a stunning work of televisual programatic art that, like the forgotten sci fi that is Singularity & Co's reason for being, deserves greater exposure and some serious appreciation.

Watch it here: http://youtu.be/KT_8-pjuctM

And a quick shout out: for those who enjoy lost and found footage, salvage film, and public domain oddities, please check out our friend Kasumi's latest project, Shockwaves: http://www.usaprojects.org/project/shockwaves Good luck Kasumi!

Ever,

Cici and the Team

We're not done yet!!! More books (maybe)!!!

Posted by Singularity&Co. (Creator)

Hey there Singularity Supporters.  With just under 5 days to go in our Kickstarter campaign, over 900 supporters and nearly 240% of our funding goal in our futuristic hyper-piggybank, you may think that we here at Singularity&Co are content to glide towards the goal like a player from the robotic leagues on the maglev track between third and home.  But we're not done yet!

We've spent the past few days cataloging many, many spectacular books, most of which were new to us if in fact quite old in reality, as well as crunching the numbers using some very advanced hyper dimensional math. We've also scanned, converted, cleaned up more than one "test" books, and done most of the legwork on clearing two titles for publication (so far).  Based on that, we've got an offer that not even an android could refuse:

If you all help spread the word, and get us to $45k, we're willing to step it up on our end, and commit to clearing and releasing an additional 6 books in the next 12 months (if not more).

To be completely honest, we're already planning to step up the pace of releases, but if we have that much in the bank (not counting our unbelievably generous matching funds offer), we can very comfortably commit to rescuing more books, sooner. That means that our $10 supporters would be able to count on 18 books for their money, and our $25 supporters can count on 18 books in the first year.

If you or anyone you know is on the fence about our campaign, please keep in mind that while you will be able to find our releases on all the major publishing platforms, as well as our website, supporting this Kickstarter is the only way to be sure that you will be able to receive all of our releases for a year ($10) or forever ($25) for virtually nothing.

So spread the word, and help us reach our new and improved goal!

In the meantime check out some of the hundreds and hundreds of books we've been cataloging in preparation for the rescue effort to begin in earnest, as well for as the opening of the Singularity&Co bookshop, which is on track to happen in the next 45 days both online, and in DUMBO, Brooklyn, NY.

225% - Which means we can give you even more!

Posted by Singularity&Co. (Creator)

It's been a very exciting week for us here at Singularity&Co.  Not only have we blown past our funding goal to 225%, we've also been featured around the internet (including last friday on io9) and, even more importantly, we've heard from quite a number of you, our supporters, who want to get involved.

Whether it's hearing from the likes of the incredibly talented Matt Downham, who is going to be helping us to supplement the spectacular vintage cover art that so many classic scifi works feature with reimagined covers and content packs of our own, or Chad Wolf, an incredible law student who has already dedicated ton of time to helping out our efforts on the copyrights side, to Rose Fox, Liralen Li  and several others who have offered their considerable assistance with making sure the quality of our scanned works is as high as possible, you are all contributing to make this project possible, and we truly appreciate it.

We'd like to take a special moment thank Bud Webster, the Estates Liaison for the SFWA, who has already dedicated considerable time and effort to helping us contact the estates of several authors whose work we're excited to feature, as well as Rob Baruch, who is one of the people behind diybookscanner.org, and who has already answered more than his share of questions.

As a thank you and a preview of things to come, please enjoy a special sneak peak of some of Matt's work, a portion of a cover for a book we hope to release in the not too distant future.

We have one week left, and every dollar we raise means that we can step up our efforts further, so keep spreading the word, and help us save the scifi!

Potential T-shirt designs for $100+ backers!

Posted by Singularity&Co. (Creator)

Greetings Singularity supporters,

It's been an exciting, insane two days since our last update and during that time, with your help spreading the word across the Interwebs, we both hit our goal of $15,000 and surpassed it by $7000! And we still have 12 days to go!! Amazing!!!

So, we've put together some mock ups of potential T-shirt designs (which will go to all $100+ backers. Please let us know what you think of the T-shirt style, colors, designs...whatever! There's still time to make changes! Just remember we are limited to images that are free and clear to use.

And thank you to everyone for your many kind words, thoughts, comments, and suggestions. We're getting great feedback, and it's evolving into some great ideas for Save the Sci Fi!

Thank you, thank you, thank you,

The Singularity & Co. Team
