Hi @omer and @chris! Our manufacturer just received the latest prototype back last week and we should hear back from them in terms of timeline for production along with design improvements. We will then send out a detailed update so please stay tuned!

I'm about to go make a cup of coffee with my trusty Bodum press. I am looking forward to the time when I can do the same with the simpli press. Using somewhat finer grind, assuming that your filter is, indeed, finer than the filter on my press, should allow for increased extraction and a deeper and more potent cup.

We could have a very lengthy discussion about that. Personally I think it's not a fair policy. If I would have known beforehand you would go this route I wouldn't have backed your campaign.
This trend will be reason for me to ask creators of future projects about their continued plans to keep crowdfunding their projects. Let me assure you their are risks involved. Hope it works out for you.

Sorry for being a critic here but your project was closed at 600% of the initial target. Why continue on IGG? Besides the ethical part, I can think of some factors that will not be in the interest of KS backers. Is it the pot at the end of the rainbow you want?

@Edwin -thanks for the detail. Appreciate the unique nature&quite agree it shud be covered. As for stated price-they can dispute what is on the sheet but end of the day they have to take it on face value as this is what has been agreed by vendor and customer....at whatever market rate discount that applied. Even free. Anyway just be happy to get it!! ;-)

We do appreciate all our International Backers and do realize that shipping + VAT add to the total cost. You guys are awesome for believing in simpli press and we do look forward to making it all worthwhile. (Hmmm... additional benefits - envy of the country for being of the first simpli pressers! Hopefully, for saving money - also less chance of breaking the carafe with the cleaning and wasting less of the coffee bean with the finer/medium grinds!)
you're right about the courier companies adding to the costs and unlike earlier days these courier companies have to charge you with the customs duties and VAT in conformity with national law (outsourced by local government), thus automatically charging you in full, while shipping with national postal services - while taking a few days extra - chances are the package is 'overlooked'.
Regarding pricing: Even if creator stated to price at $39 - can't recall they have - customs will charge based on declared value including shipment costs. Also customs employees are well trained and highly skilled people and they have internet too ;) In my experience, in the end once funding money has been collected creators will declare the exact value once they're set to ship the items and there's nothing you can do about it. I don't blame the creators. I wish there were exceptions, instructions, agreements and legislation made for customs to handle items obtained by crowdfunding equally at cost price in order to stimulate start-up companies and backers globally. Now often there's a thin line between financial benefit backing a unique product from an other continent or buying an excellent product locally without that one great feature at the same price. This nice and well thought out FP just happens to be one of them.

@Edwin well if product is priced at $39 (no matter what shipping costs are) then this will not attract VAT from customs into EU. Trouble is courier companies also charge a fee for clearing customs (as they actually do much in these instances)....adding further £/€ to this FP device.
Congratulations on your successful campaign . Since you you promote the Simpli Press for travel as well, would you consider offering a padded protective bag as an add on? It would allow us to take it on the road without fear of damage. Thank you and all the best.
@Omer Moghraby: That won't help you when Simpli Press is being sent out Premium style using courier. I expect my Simpli press super early bird ($59) be delivered ($59+$35*130% vat/fee)= $127 to get it into the EU making this a quite expensive FP. I can relate to @Fearlessleaders comment, but then again it's all in the game when there are no alternatives available. Take it or leave it.
glad i was able to get in on this before the end. what pushed me over the edge to fund this? the guy in the video above with the KC Chiefs hat on. :) i'm glad this is happening and look forward to the final product.

Hi looks like i got lucky with edwins released pledge! I do wonder about the price of shipping and then potentially import taxes. How do you guys safeguard against extortionate prices for that? Can you put oriental k/s price on packaging?
Having EU base for shipping would of course resolve that.

I've decided that at the add-on price this is great, but the initial pledge price is just not worth it to me. I've got Highwave BigFish Coffee Press that only does 16oz. It seems that the only advantage of Simpli is that it'll do more coffee at once. So, I'll be freeing up my early spot.
