Nope! Alexa is fully built in and can act as your kitchen’s Alexa device. And we don’t just mean Alexa-enabled: Silo is part of a new class of devices who have the privilege to have worked with the Amazon team to actually incorporate the Alexa technology into the product.Last updated:
As an environmentally conscious company, we explored different possible materials for our containers. Using glass for our uniquely shaped container was deemed impossible: 1. Glass could not hold the deep vacuum and could possibly collapse under pressure.
2. Our unique technique for vacuuming containers for the bottom cannot be manufactured accurately enough out of glass.
We choose to use reusable and stable BPA-free Tritan plastic which is one of the safest in the market as well as very durable. Tritan is the gold standard for quality and our goal is that the containers will serve you for a long time.Last updated:
We have restructured the shipping costs to accommodate EU friendly shipping, which means the Silo package itself will be delivered from within the EU and no money will need to be paid at the door.
The shipment price on KS itself can’t be lowered as Silo will now use those funds to cover the additional taxes including VAT and Customs (even though there is uncertainty regarding customs fee and we might need to pay a bigger overhead) which previously, backers would have had to pay out of pocket. So that means less costs for you.Last updated:
The Silo device will support your local power voltage requirement. For each country we allow shipping to, we will supply a device that works on either 220V or 110V as well as a relevant power plug as well.Last updated:

There’s no need to have multiple Alexas in the Kitchen - the Silo built-in Alexa can do everything your other Alexa can. The nearest device will hear and answer you, wherever you are in the home, thanks to Amazon’s “Device Arbitration” feature!Last updated:
Silo has already secured funds for operations from investors. Money pledged via the Kickstarter campaign will be reserved for manufacturing only.Last updated:
Most certainly. This is not fake news. We shot it internally in the Silo offices and even made sure to put 1 half of the same avocado in each container.Last updated:

Yes. The containers are BPA-free and microwavable. The lid is also microwave safe; however we recommend to remove it before microwaving.

Silo has no direct competitors - we are proud to be a one-of-a-kind product. There is no comparable one-touch vacuum sealer on the market capable of Silo’s range of features. And while standard plastic and pyrex containers can be airtight, which means no air can get in, the air inside is still there -- whereas our deep vacuum technology removes most of the air, leaving an inhospitable environment for spoilage.Last updated:
Our patented vacuum technique is what allows the one-touch Silo experience. When we were developing the device, we saw that you cannot suck air from below as fluids and fine grains will cause damage to vacuum pumps. Our patent allows for an airflow where the air is being drawn out from the top, so everything can be easily stored and vacuumed in our Silo containers without any clogging.Last updated:
