About this project
2012 was a fantastic year for Simon the Leper. After moving to Olympia, WA from Wenatchee, WA former lead vocalist Jared Bugg valiantly took over drum duties in the absence of the incomparable Troy Vines, guitarist Jeremiah Steele started singing and added a 7th string, and new bass player Esa Hakkarainen helped everyone get a little bit weirder.
We were able to perform 16 times in beautiful Western Washington with some of our favorite bands. We made a lot of friends and fantastic contacts, were able to record a slew of demos, and purchase the equipment with which we recorded the You Are OK E.P. and our phenomenally talented friend Robbie Houston at Play On Ten Productions recorded/produced a December 7th show that we were able to release as our new line-up's live debut.
Here's the Live at MBCR version of "Next To Godliness"
We've got a lot of fun planned for 2013, including some prospective festival dates, a licensing distribution deal with Tunecore and the release of our music on iTunes/Amazon/Spotify etc. but our primary goals for the year are the production of our 2nd full-length album Cloudeater (of which the writing process is nearly complete) and a small tour of Washington, Oregon, and Northern California.
Our backers will be helping us fund the final production stages of Cloudeater, but they will also be helping us pay for the 7-14 day tour of the West Coast in support of the album, shipping costs for a nation-wide radio campaign, and the much-needed licensing and publishing administration costs for the new release.
We're very pleased with the material we've written for Cloudeater, and the finished product promises to be the catchiest, heaviest, most accessible, most intimate and most interesting Simon the Leper release thus far. Thanks for your interest in us. We really do love you all.
Risks and challenges
There are obviously numerous risks and challenges presented when a band decides to tour, including the safety of vehicles, equipment, and band members. However, we are three passionate, tenacious young men with a large number of passionate, tenacious friends, some of whom will be on tour with us. Together we should be able to overcome any obstacles that WA, OR, and CA have in store for us.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
