Just a quick update...

A few weeks ago I went down to Bath to show the lovely chaps at PC Gamer magazine the game. We did an interview and received a whole two page spread in July's issue!

This week I'll be showing an alpha build of Maia at an alternative E3 event in London called Etoo. The event is ticketed, but there may be some cancellations so it's probably worth keeping an eye on. If anyone is coming you'll be able to have a hands-on go with the next alpha! If you can't make it, keep an eye out for the live stream where I will be making an appearance!

The 0.27 alpha will go up as soon as I am back on Thursday. Then on Friday I will release 0.28 as a bug fix patch for small problems found by the alpha testers.

A lot of people are asking if Maia will be at Rezzed, the PC games show run by Eurogamer and RockPaperShotgun. I didn't manage to get the game into the indie showcase, and decided that purchasing a whole booth would be a little too expensive and would distort my development efforts too much (putting together builds for demonstrations involves a lot of rushed code that adds bugs and work). I will however be there on the Saturday, roaming the expo floor, if you'd like to say hello. I may even have a few Maia trinkets to give away.

Pretty much everyone should now have their alpha keys. Drop a line on if you haven't received yours. People who hadn't responded to the surveys by the time the mail-outs went out will need to contact me to generate a key for them.

Update: I probably wont be at Etoo tomorrow. I've fallen ill and can't make it up to London. :(

Paul our writer will be there though! So find and harass him for me!

Great to see that you've gotten into the presses!

I'll have to check if I recieved the alpha access key as I've been rather too busy to check, but if I can find it, and it's alright with you, would it be ok if I record gameplay footage and put it up on my, admittedly small, youtube channel?

Wooow, Simon, i love the new design!

You can really see the improvement through the months! Can wait to play it! :D

      Looking better and better.

Is there any chance you will make it possible for us to upgrade our pledge to a higher tier at some point. For some reason i never got the tier i really wanted to. "damn you blasted memory" lol.

Oh wow, Rezzed is in Brum this year? That's only down the road from me!

Guess I'll be going. If anyone going sees a 6'5 guy with a badly trimmed beard walking around with a sketchpad gurning madly at people then come and say "hello"!

May see you at Rezzed then. Etoo is too small to be worth travelling in to London for. Whatever happened to ECTS?

Joshua. Good question! I am about a month behind where I wanted to be right now, however the game's design has changed (for the better) since the Kickstarter, so some sort of slippage was to be expected.

That said, I do think we will be on track to have something that starts to really come together through July, so we will see some convergence with the initial plan. With several distributors now offering to take the game as an "Alpha", the pressure is off to appease their wishes for a more restricted but polished product in the short term. This will save us a lot of time and work messing about with release candidates!

really impressed with how the overall look has improved since the launch of the kickstarter campaign.

do you have a rough idea of when actual release will be now? the alpha seems to be on track with your initial schedule
