New Kickstarter project assists in the education of Padawans

Dear Rebels,

It's been a long, long time ago since I last reached out to you (my Force choke isn't what it used to be). One of our fellow Rebels has taken the leap from Backer to Creator, and his project is something worth supporting.

CHIP (http://kck.st/1rS0PoW) is an easy, fun, and educational kit that builds STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Math) skills and grows from a soldering project to a friend that kids can program.

As far as technology educational toys go, CHIP is one of the better ones I've seen, especially for younger students. It's got personality, is super affordable, and integrates character play and story telling potential in additional to providing a sense of purpose and achievement.

Paul's funding goal is modest, and there's no reason not to support such a cute little educational toy that can provide the fundamentals of basic circuitry, soldering, and programming. Who knows? A kid who plays and learns with CHIP might end up making a real world C3PO or R2D2 :-)

I'm pledging my support now. $35 for a CHIP kit and a programmable customized Arduino? Count me in!

May the Force be With You,

That Was Fun :-)

Hiya Rebels,

Glad to see your comments in response to my little April Fool's Joke :-) Hope no one pooped their flight suits! It's been a lot of fun running the X-Wing campaign. Thank you all for being a part of the fun, and for adding to the silliness.

Now that it's all over, I'm putting my focus back onto my non-joke Kickstarter campaigns. The iPhone 5 version of SIMPLcase was successfully funded, so now comes the hard work of getting the tooling made and producing the rewards.

At the same time, because we had a lot of requests for it, we also launched a separate Kickstarter campaign for the iPhone 4/4S version of SIMPLcase

So what's a SIMPLcase? It's an iPhone case that:

  • stores multiple SIM cards and the iPhone SIM eject tool so world travelers can easily swap out and keep safe SIM cards to avoid huge roaming fees
  • has a slot in the back that can use any standard credit or membership card as a hands-free stand

Please have a look and I'd really appreciate it if you would help me spread the word about SIMPLcase :-)

Cheers all, and May the Force Be With You. Always!

9 Hours Left to Go + Death Star Trench Toss

Hey Rebels!

The Death Star has failed to raise enough funds to even get enough chicken wire to cover a reactor exhaust port!

Thanks to all of you for your support and especially for those $10K pledges and increases in our final days and hours.

While this is not the final update, I just saw this awesome video and, as it's really quite fitting with this campaign, I thought I'd share it with you (no endorsement implied... I just thought it was fun). So, without further ado, I present to you, Death Star Trench Toss by ThinkGeek!

The Final Countdown...

Dear Rebel Alliance,

In a scant 6 days, our campaign to raise funds to built an X-Wing fighter to combat the intergalactic threat of the Death Star will come to a close. We are still ahead of the Death Star in terms of funding (and in terms of FUN), but let's not let down our guard until the smoke clears and the Death Star is but a shimmering cloud of scrap metal :-)

Reminder: Please submit your videos ASAP if you want your submission to be considered to forever represent this campaign at the top of the page. Send us a link to your YouTube video, so we can imbed our favorite into the page. Once the campaign ends, we can no longer alter the page, so send in your videos now!

This would also be a great time to increase your pledge levels to see how high we can raise the final goal reached before the campaign ends!

Increase your pledge, you must. Victory over the Empire, we shall have!
