About this project

We have a series of robots that desperately want to attend BarBot 2011 in San Francisco!  Barbot, the sister event to RoboExotica Vienna, is the annual San Francisco Festival of Cocktail Robotics, celebrating technological culture and the man-machine interface, a conceptual art bar that involves stunning works of art that will make you a tasty drink.

These robots don't clean the carpets. What they will do is much, much better.  Let your roommate do the vacuuming. These bots have got better programming on their mind.

Robots we are working on include:

David Fine's DrumBot which works with a full drum kit, piezoelectric sensors, solenoids, and five different types of liquor to make you a concoction that will truly drum the meaning of the man-machine interface into our head. Funds from this kickstarter will go toward parts and assembly!

The White Russian Hippie:  All the way from Vienna, Austria, Magnus Wurzer, founder of RoboExotica and dedicated student of conceptual elaborations of basic social behavior, will be bringing the pieces of the White Russian Hippie for your scholarly investigation.  The only problem is, our dedicated team of specialists have to put it together after the long plane trip, and robots always incur extra baggage fees!

The 12" Pianist - thought up and done originally by Jesse Zbkowski, former RoboExotica Artist-In-Residence, and Franz Ablinger of monochrom.  Jesse is presently in possession of the brain for the robot, but needs help with the rest! We're scavenging parts, but need just a few more!

BarBot is run by The Robotics Society of America, a 501(c)3 non profit, run by dedicated volunteers (i.e. gluttons for punishment). It's an event that serves to both showcase the amazing things made by technological artists, and to serve as publicity for RoboGames 2011, our flagship event.
