Vote For Us & Apple Lightning

Posted by James Siminoff (Creator)

We Need Your Vote!

After launching our Kickstarter campaign, Lexus reached out and asked if we’d like to participate in a design competition for the chance to win $25,000. Please vote at, You can vote every day and the contest ends Sunday, September 30th, so please take a second to vote for POP and tell your friends and family. The money will go to making POP, and possibly a new solar top.

iPhone 5/Lightning Adapter

Many of you have been asking if POP will be compatible with the new iPhone 5 Lightning connector. Apple has yet to provide enough technical details for us to tell you with certainty how exactly we’ll be able to incorporate the new chargers. Apple is expected to come out with the full Lightning guidelines in mid-October, and when they do, we will be able to finalize our design and proceed to manufacturing. Because of the delay in waiting for the Lightning guidelines, there is nothing that we can currently do to accelerate manufacturing. This could push out our production schedule a little, but again – too soon to tell. One thing we guarantee is that we will not ship a POP that is not iPhone 5/Lightning compatible.

We’re happy to announce that POP now has its own site – Now you can stay up to date with the most current POP news and progress as we continue pushing forward to the manufacturing process. You can also order more POPs if you would like to.

Re: Connectors - my understanding is that you'd put in 2 of the old style apple connectors and 2 of the new - both of which are a clever plug which doubles as a micro-usb. Is that still the plan?

I'm not fussed about the apple stuff, but losing any of the micro-usb would make me regret purchasing my units.

What I would be chuffed to see is a mini-usb chucked in as well, but, I figure handling that with an adapter is going to be the best option.

@Andrew, without commenting directly on the other projects, we agree 1,000% that a 30 pin device being shipped today is just a waste and we will not do it.

I am very happy to hear that you won't ship without Lightning compatibility. Too many projects are just ignoring the new connectors!

@Brian the Solar would not hurt the battery cycles that much. Because it is trickle from what we are told it will not hurt things.

A solar top would be amazing. It would make this even better, and would make the Station that much more useful, though I would have to question the the lifespan of the battery in the Classic, based on inconsistent charge cycles.
