About this project
Beneath Nexus is an asymmetrical dungeon crawling card game. One player will take control of 1 of the 4 Blight Lords, the evil rulers of the ancient city of Nexus who helped bring about its downfall thousands of years ago. The other players will take control of the 6 Heroes who have come to the city to reclaim it. Some of them seek treasure, others glory, and some vengeance, but they all share the same goal of vanquishing the fiendish Blight Lords.
The Heroes will explore the city, encountering ancient crypts, nests of vicious creatures, halls of long-forgotten magic, and terrifying monsters. At every turn the Blight Lord will try and hinder their progress with powerful Blight Spells cast from the shadows and their host of corrupted monsters and beasts, many of whom were once the citizens of the ancient city.
Each encounter will reveal new locations, and new challenges, within the long forgotten pathways of Nexus. But with great risk comes great reward. After defeating each encounter, the Heroes will discover powerful treasures to aid them in their quest. After overcoming these challenges, the Heroes must face the Blight Lord themselves. If they are able to work together they may yet be able to overcome the obstacles that the Blight Lord sends against them. If not, then they will surely fall, like so many before them, to the corrupting power of the Blight.
The mechanics of the game are designed to be simple and streamlined, yet full of possibility and complexity. Each Hero has a unique character card and deck of abilities. These abilities are designed to work together allowing the players to coordinate their moves for far more powerful results than if they acted on their own. Likewise, the Blight Lords are each unique, and deal with the Heroes in very different ways.
The game progresses through a series of three “Encounters”. At the beginning of the first two Encounters, Heroes will draw 3 Encounter cards face down and choose one. That one is turned over and the rest are discarded face down. These Encounter cards change the rules of the game to present new challenges to the Heroes. Once the Encounter card is drawn, the Blight Lord then draws a number of monster cards dictated by the Encounter card and plays them. After that, the Encounter begins with the Blight Lord going first.
All players have a number of actions that they can take on their turn. The Blight Lord has a number of actions equal to the number of Heroes playing the game, and each Hero gets only one action. This allows the game to balance and scale for three up to six total players.
If the Heroes are able to complete the Encounter, they draw 1 Treasure card per Hero +1. They each choose 1 Treasure card, discard the remaining, and move on to the next Encounter. In the third Encounter the Heroes face the Blight Lord themselves. The Blight Lord flips over their character card to reveal their Monstrous Form. The power of the Blight Lord’s Monstrous Form also scales with the number of Heroes in the game. If they Heroes are able to vanquish the Blight Lord, they have won the game, but if the Blight Lord is able to slay all of the Heroes in a single Encounter, then the victory goes to them.

- 70% - Cost of production and freight shipping
- 16.5% - Incidental funds (excess shipping costs, taxes, descretiondry funds)
- 10% - Kickstarter Fee
- 3.5% - Warehousing

One aspect of Beneath Nexus that we are incredibly proud of is the art and design. Our team of artists produced work for us that exceeded our wildest dreams and helped us make our game one of the most beautiful we've ever seen. If you'd like to receive any of the below add ons, please add their dollar amount to your pledge. We'll send out a survey after the campaign to make sure everyone is getting the add ons they want.
All of our Fine Art Prints will be size 12"x12". We'd also like to note that a portion of the cost of each poster will go to the artist that created the illustration.
After the campaign, we'll send out a survey so that you can specify which print you'd like to receive.
Silverclutch Games was founded in the summer of 2015 by Tom Panico and Chris Visco. Tom has loved games since he picked up Magic: the Gathering in the third grade. Chris has had a bone to pick with tabletop games since his dad wouldn't stop beating him in Stratego in the mid '90s.
Our company name, Silverclutch, is a homage to an ancient Dwarven keep in the first Pathfinder campaign we played together. That homage is an extension of our design philosophy: we make games because we are compelled to share our creativity with a community that doesn't just accept new ideas, but nurtures them. Our goal is to create games that not only satisfy gaming veterans, but are also inviting and accessible to new players.

Risks and challenges
The game has been fully developed and tested. Now the next challenge lies in production and shipping. While we have done many months of research to find the absolute best manufacturing partner, many unknown complications lay waiting for us in the future. We have gone to great lengths to make sure that we do not over-promise and under-deliver, but please understand that unforeseen circumstances may complicate the manufacture and shipment of Beneath Nexus.
