FINAL DAY! Click Updates above to learn about add-on Sheaths and Pouches.
The patented Siege Stove was born in the Sierra foothills, not far from stunning Yosemite valley. Our outdoor experience has taught us that rough conditions demand a dependable, versatile, easy to use stove.
After extensive development and testing we have finally perfected the Siege Stove and are ready to introduce it to the world. The unique universal Cross-Members fit almost any common can, rapidly converting it into a powerful, stable, high-performance wood-burning and multi-fuel stove, with unique features and options not found in any other stove. In spite of its high performance, it is also uniquely affordable — so much so, that nothing else comes close to its value and versatility.

Watch the video below to see the remarkably versatile Siege Stove in use. The new universal size Cross-Members we are introducing on Kickstarter replace the two sizes seen in this video. The new universal size fits all the cans that these two sizes fit, plus several more, including quart and gallon paint cans, common small food cans and even IKEA canisters! For Kickstarter supporters we are also introducing new laser-cut versions of our unique stainless-steel Folding Grills and Side Toasters (the videos show our wire mesh prototypes). In the video our engineer, Ken also explains how he came up with the idea for the Siege Stove:
The Siege Stove cross-members will be an essential addition to any camping gear, backpack, bug-out bag, car or home emergency survival kit. With them you can rapidly create wood-burning, multi-fuel and even wood-gas stoves out of common cans, and be prepared for anything. Even if you already have a stove, it is worth keeping a set of Cross-Members in your kit. As many of our "beta" users have reported, it will likely become your primary camp stove!
The survival and bushcraft instructors and experienced backpackers who have tested our early development versions of the Siege Stove have consistently responded with praise for the stove. Their overwhelming enthusiasm for the Siege Stove has encouraged us to continue with its development and bring the new, perfected universal design to Kickstarter.
What people are saying
From Alaska, Canada and Scandinavia, throughout Europe and the US, to the Himalayas and South East Asia, as well as the Australian outback and New Zealand, the Siege Stove has been tested and proven.
"Simplicity is the ultimate sophistication"
Having a Siege Stove is like owning many stoves in one:
Most other portable stoves have a fixed size and cannot scale to suit different sized groups (the few that do are very limited in range), requiring the purchase of their expensive stoves in 2 or even 3 different sizes. In contrast, a single set of Siege Stove Cross-Members will scale from a small common food can, all the way up to a #10 restaurant size can, and even a gallon can! No other stove comes close to being able to scale across this broad range of fuel capacity and fire output, and most can't scale at all.
The Universal Cross-Members also fit the Siege Collapsible Stove:
For those with very limited space (e.g. kayak, bike, motorbike and horseback campers) the high-performance Siege Collapsible Stove is available in stainless steel and titanium. Just as with cans, the universal Cross-Members lift the Collapsible Stove off the ground, and elevate a pot or pan to the ideal height above the stove. They allow maximum air flow through the base, and the fire to breathe optimally at the top. As with cans, the broad heat output eliminates hot-spots under a pot/pan and makes it perfect for grilling.
Note: Cans are space-efficient too! They can be stuffed with tinder and fire starters, or even have a small pot or cook-set nested in them (this is very popular with IKEA can users). Cans are also long lasting, are easy to obtain, and cost zero or next to nothing.
Create a wood-gas stove from two cans:
In about the same time it takes to make a single can stove, you can create a wood-gas stove with capabilities not found in other more expensive wood-gas / gasifier stoves. (A gallon-size wood-gas stove with titanium Siege Stove Cross Members weighs only 21 oz!)
Simply use a drill or the Cross-Members' built-in tool to punch a small number of holes in the inner can, then use a can-opener to remove the bottom of the outer can, drop the outer can around the inner can and snap on the Cross-Members. It doesn’t get any easier than this!
Converting IKEA® canisters into camp stoves is popular around the world:
With their low cost and sturdy lightweight design with plenty of air holes, the stainless steel IKEA cutlery drainer canisters make excellent stoves. Standard methods of converting the IKEA canister require work (cutting, grinding, and sanding a flue hole in the canister, as well as making, drilling and bolting on heavy legs), and the result is not ideal (less stable base and pot support). In contrast, the Siege Cross-Members simply press on, with the canister and pot raised to optimal heights on the broad 7” wide supports.
In an annual survival magazine’s comparison with 9 other popular more expensive wood-burning stoves, the Siege Cross-Members with an IKEA canister achieved the fastest boil time (4 minutes to boil 18 oz of water, vs. 5-12 minutes on the other stoves).
The IKEA canister with titanium Cross-Members weighs just 8.3 oz (some other compact stoves can weigh as much as four times more, and have less fuel capacity, requiring more frequent feeding).
As with all Siege Stoves, the Cross-Members with an IKEA canister makes an intense fire with great radiant heat for staying warm. The many air holes in an IKEA canister and the raised pot supports provide excellent all-round visibility of the fire, so you can enjoy the authentic campfire experience, watching a living, breathing, crackling fire!
Many other compact stoves have a narrow base and pot support, making them relatively unstable and limiting them to use with a very small diameter cooking pot. In contrast, the Siege Stove Cross-Members have a 7" spread above and below the stove — providing more stability than most other compact stoves. The Siege Stove will support a heavy pot or wide iron skillet.
Our Cross-Members are precision laser-cut from .050" thick aerospace-grade titanium and .058" thick 304 stainless steel.
Our titanium Collapsible Stoves are .028" thick, not the thinner grades used in most other stoves. (Other stoves commonly use 0.020", but in our tests even 0.025" titanium warped unacceptably in high heat.) Our stainless steel Collapsible Stoves are made in the same thickness from 22-gauge 304 SST.
The titanium and stainless steel Cross-Members and Collapsible Stoves are all impervious to rust and wood flames. You will be able to hand these down for generations.
- REUSE OF DISCARDED CANS: even better than recycling!
- LESS TO SHIP: compact size and light weight components ship for less; cans are obtained locally
- SAVE MONEY ON FUEL: switching from expensive synthetic fuels to cost-free, abundant, renewable biofuel wood scraps quickly pays for the cost of a Siege Stove
- FUEL EFFICIENT: uses much less wood than an open fire (to model a survival scenario, we cut up an 11 lb kitchen chair for fuel and were able to cook over 30 meals)
- BETTER FOR THE ENVIRONMENT: wood ash produced helps remineralize soil; non-renewable synthetic fuels use up other resources in extraction, processing, storage, transport as well as the production of containers (gas canisters, etc.) and packaging
The Siege Stove also functions as an all-in-one survival tool: The fangs of the base Cross-Members not only grip the stove, but are designed to double as a hole-making tool. If all you have is a can of food and a small pot to cook in, you can open the can, empty the contents into the pot, and convert the empty can into a stable, effective stove.
There is the potential anywhere for events that can knock out power, possibly for many days. Being able to cook, boil and sterilize water, and stay warm during an emergency or when separated from home is essential. It is well worth keeping a set of Siege Stove Cross-Members with camping gear or in a bug-out bag, as well as an extra set in the car. The Siege Stove doesn't require synthetic fuels, which can run out at any time and are bulky to carry. Wood scraps are free and abundant (just gather when needed — no need to carry it with you), and the efficient Siege Stove uses only a small amount. Our handy guides explain how you can even cook a meal using just strips of cardboard. In a Siege Stove there are no electronics, fans or batteries that can break down, or materials such as plastics and aluminum that can melt or crack. Siege Stoves are exceptionally tough, so you can always depend on them when you are far from civilization or in an emergency situation.
Note: the final grills and toasters designs for Kickstarter will be the durable and attractive laser-cut stainless steel flat-pack models seen in these photos, and not the wire mesh test versions seen in the videos).
After much hard work, we have succeeded in developing high-quality all-American stoves that are highly rated by outdoors enthusiasts and experts. We will be manufacturing the Siege Stove Cross Members and Collapsible Stoves exclusively in the USA from US produced materials.
We have also worked hard to make our accessories from US-made materials, switching the Folding Grills and Side Toasters from foreign-manufactured wire mesh to US-produced 304 stainless steel sheet metal, which we laser cut in the USA. (The tempered stainless steel dinner knives that we cut, grind and drill in our workshop to make into handles for the grills are the only remaining component not originating in the USA.)
NOTE 1: Cans are not included. (This helps to reduce backers' shipping costs significantly. Also, cans are easy to find locally — for free or a very low cost.)
NOTE 2: We have kept production costs as low as possible by comparing multiple laser fabricators and material suppliers. We have also absorbed recent material price increases (titanium up 40% since last year), in order to maintain the $20 and $30 pledge levels for our backers. Steel and titanium costs may increase again soon with increases in aerospace demand. Now may be the best time to back us!
The MSRP is estimated, based on production costs.
Risks and challenges
Each iteration of the Siege Stove has been produced in limited quantities at a relatively high production cost. This has enabled us to perfect the stoves and work through any potential manufacturing issues in advance. To minimize supply chain and production risk and reduce lead times, we have sourced all our materials in the USA and all manufacturing will be local. We also have a backup US fabrication partner in place, should the need occur.
Next, we need your help so that we can produce the new Cross-Members in volume, get our fabrication costs down, and share the tremendous benefits of the Siege Stove with many more people.
Our supporters will receive high quality rewards that have been extensively tested in real-world conditions.
