Sidesaddle Kitchen has been operating underground in the San Francisco Bay Area for the past year and a half. I was lucky enough to find the SF Underground Market (NYT article about it here!) just as I was starting out. Being able to meet other vendors, testing products, and getting exposure to thousands of people every month was incredibly valuable. It was an opportunity that offered a sense of community and support that I couldn’t find anywhere else. The market was recently shut down by the Health Dept., leaving me without a market from which to sell my treats, so I've got no other choice but to do the little legal jig and get legit!
I am launching this Kickstarter project to take the steps to become a fully licensed and legal operation!

My desserts are raw (not heated over 115degrees) vegan, plant-based, gluten-free, and made using only unprocessed, unrefined, and organic ingredients. They're pure enough for the hard-core high-raw vegan yogi, but also tasty enough for the truck-driving construction-working carnivore.
Raw devotees describe it as food so satisfying, fulfilling, and nourishing for your body that it makes you "glow" from the inside out. Whether or not you subscribe to that kind of thinking, it tastes good, gives you wholesome energy, and makes you feel great, NOT GROSS!
So far, I've done everything DIY, from website design and marketing, to sign-building, cake-plate gluing, and business-card stamping. I've single-handedly pounded out a few hundred desserts for each and every market, which have all sold with great success. I'm not afraid to work hard, but I just can't afford the costs of these legal requirements on my own. (And you can't DIY a health permit - I checked.)
Thanks so much for your support, and I genuinely appreciate you taking the time to check out my project.
