WHAT IS NOBODY?
He wasn't the football star, he didn't have a girlfriend, and he was a quiet student...he was a nobody. So how did this seemingly average Humes High senior become a legend?
Nobody is a Sideburned Cinema, Inc. short film about an 18-year-old kid named Elvis, before he became Elvis Presley. The story features the tender relationship between him and his mother, his devoted teacher, and the talent show that changed everything. It's an intimate portrait of a young dreamer, before fame and fandom.
The film is expected to be shot in May or June of 2013, then be released for a festival circuit run. Elvis Presley Enterprises has been extremely supportive of this endeavor.
WHO IS MAKING THE FILM?
William Bryan (Writer/Director/Producer)
Filmmaking and Elvis Presley have always been an important part of William's life. Picking up a video camera at age 9 and quickly becoming a devoted Elvis fan at 11, it is no coincidence these two passions would one day intertwine. After a multitude of short films at Columbia College Chicago and venturing to Elvis' Graceland every summer for the past decade, William finally decided it was time to tell a very human story about a young man with sideburns, before he became The King of Rock and Roll.
Tom Radovich (Producer)
Tom is an award-winning screenwriter based out of Chicago. He recently won Best Feature Screenplay at the 8th Annual Omaha Film Festival, First Place at the 2012 Downbeach Film Festival, and was placed in many Finalist categories for his feature script, "The Badminton Warrior." Working on over twenty shorts; he has experience as a producer, director, cinematographer, sound designer, editor, and assistant director.
WHY RAISE MONEY TO FUND NOBODY?
We are looking to raise a budget of $12,000 so that we can reach the high production value standards required for a period piece, especially one about the one and only Elvis Presley. We may be a low budget short film, but the right level of funds are both an ideal and necessity to properly acquire the right equipment, set design, wardrobe, and other essentials to cinematically do justice to the story and its era. We are proud to announce, for starters, that we will be shooting on location at Elvis' alma mater - Humes High School in Memphis, Tennessee.
While no crew on this production will be paid a large salary; we will also need to cover other areas such as transportation, lodging and meal expenses for everyone involved (cast and crew).
Funding will also help cover Nobody's distribution to the public; any extra means will be put to the best use of pushing our project further into the public eye, with the look and feel of a true theatrical film.
Your much-appreciated contributions are by no means blind donations. We have many unique rewards set up which you good people can receive in return for helping us tell this story about a young Elvis. Perk levels are listed on the right. ----->
