What is SiB™?
The SiB™ is a small, ring-box sized self-powered, wireless Internet-connected button. Paired with our SiMP™ Messaging App, this little device can be programmed to do almost anything! The goal of the SiB™ is to create an ecosystem of sensors to fulfill everyday needs at an affordable price, with the least necessary technical knowledge required to setup. The app is free and there are no monthly fees!
The SiB™ powers on and runs a program of your choice when the button is pressed. In addition, the SiB™ can run long-running, or scheduled tasks, such as checking a sensor regularly. The SiB™ communicates with you through our messaging app SiMP™; you receive messages from your SiB™, and you send messages to your SiB™.
On it's own, the SiB™ is capable of sending instant messages, sending urgent messages (played with a louder 'alarm' volume), measuring the temperature, detecting the presence or absence of a nearby magnet (magnetic alarm), providing multi-colored light, performing timed tasks, detecting nearby WiFi routers, and detecting button press sequences (like "double-click") to perform different actions.
The SiB's™ battery can last over 4500 button-presses! For the average user, that's years of use out of a single SiB™.
The SiB™ is configured through SiMP™, which provides a list of predefined, simple programs that you can install with a simple press of your SiB™. However, the SiB™ can also be programmed, using simple commands sent from SiMP™, to do any combination of all of the SiB's™ capabilities. The possibilities are endless!

What a SiB™ Can Do For ONLY $5!
- An emergency button for seniors or people at risk, under a desk in a school or a checkout counter; the SiB™ can send a notification alert to one or multiple contacts when pressed.
- A timed night light, both kids and adults can enjoy the super BRIGHT full color LED change color depending on the mood!
- A door bell; will alert everybody in the group - whether at home or away!
- A fridge or freezer alarm; where the SiB™ can notify you if your freezer is too warm, for example, when the door has been left open.

Why SO Cheap?
In recent days as people learned more about the SiB™ and what it can do, one of the most common questions asked is: Why so cheap?
We should clarify first of all that the price is as low as it is, because this is a Kickstarter campaign and, after all, people come here looking for the latest and greatest at a price point that is specific to an early backer.
So you then might be wondering, but $5 is not enough to make something that is of high quality and for them to make any money! - and you would normally be correct. Except the SiB™ IS of very high quality, we're just not making ANY profit on the sale of each SiB™ at this special Kickstarter price. The $5 price just barely covers the manufacturing and assembly (along with associated overheads) and, most important, all the high quality components we've selected. Our aim has always been to design a small device that needs to last many years, rather than the typical cheap products that only last a few months or days.
Kickstarter doesn't just provide a medium to sell a product, it also provides a valuable platform to demonstrate a product to the world and the resulting exposure can lead to a lot of good and valuable things. In essence, this is a win-win situation. Backers get a very low cost product and inventors / companies get exposure and the ability to sell the product later at a much higher price -- then again, most of you probably already knew this, but in case you were wondering, now you know why the SiB™ is so cheap!
The SiB™ includes a small expansion port, through which additional sensors can be installed. The expansion port is one of the most unique things about a SiB™ and it is a big component of the patents we have filed, including the Utility and Design patents - yes, the SiB™ has a few patents pending! Thanks to the expansion port, we have and continue to create a variety of sensors specifically for the SiB™. The sensors can be plugged into the slot with no knowledge of electronics, and the sensor is immediately available for use by the SiB™.
SiB™ buttons are now being made!
Update December 22: We purchased and had recently installed at our workshop 2 important machines for the production of SiB™ buttons. These machines represent our commitment to making the SiB™ buttons to the highest quality levels possible and with production already underway, to deliver the SiB™ buttons sooner than expected in our timeline below.

Here is HOW a SiB™ is PROGRAMMED
There are 2 methods to program a SiB, first you have the ultra user friendly method and second you have a more complex, yet easy, but more programmer focused method.
When you get a SiB and you first run it, it pairs to your SiMP app. In the app it creates a new conversation where you can send the SiB messages (programs) and it can send you back messages / alerts / notifications / data - anything you've asked it to do.
To access the user friendly GUI, all you have to do is press the button "Configure your SiB!" in that conversation. Then you scroll through the pre-made applications and choose the one you need your SiB to run. It's very intuitive and user friendly and takes just a few seconds to install one of these applications and have your SiB running.
The second option which is more for the tinkerer / programmer is done by manually creating a program in the conversation using the appropriate commands and sending that program to the SiB.
The benefit in using the programming language is that you get an infinite amount of possible applications and customization. The programming language we've developed is simple to understand yet very complete and able to do practically anything you ask of it.

Existing Expansions and Accessories
The accessories included in the pledge reward kits are already in working prototype stage! They are photographed and described below. Please note that these prototypes are made of 3D-printed materials, and not the polished plastic that the finished, manufactured versions will include.
Sweet Dreams with SiB™!
December 18th: This video is part of the campaign update we recently did on the SiB™ and the USB power adapter. It is also the reason why we made the Sweet Dreams pledge.
Why Sweet Dreams? A few days ago a backer asked us if SiB™ could do the same thing as a Dodow™ does - which is a $60 device that pulsates a soothing light, a system proven by NASA to assist in getting to sleep. So when we got that question our immediate answer was SURE it can! - and very quickly we made the program and the video and some images too!
This application goes to show how versatile the SiB™ is and how quickly it can be adapted to do things we haven't yet thought of!

How it works
SiB™ pairs with our mobile application SiMP™, a secure instant messaging platform. Every SiB™ paired with SiMP™ appears simply as a new contact. Each SiB™ creates a chat in SiMP™, and use that chat to send you notifications (for example, sensor alerts, timed events, status, etc); likewise, you can send commands, and programs directly back to the SiB™ via the same chat.
While SiMP™ comes with a predefined list of programs for SiB™, advanced users can put together programs of their own, using the commands described in the Programming section of our website.

- The SiB™ is able to run with its internal battery over 4500 times. That means, more than 4500 random or uniform operations over the span of 10 years.
- The SiB™ is able to acquire and log data more than 30000 times with once a week WiFi use.

- The SiB™ has an internal super accurate (10ppm) 32.768KHz real time clock crystal with a deviation of about 35ms per hour - making it more accurate than most watches!
- The SiB™ contains an auto sense power source chip from TI - thus when external power is removed or lost, the SiB™ battery keeps the SiB™ powered ON and acting as a perfect backup and an automated notification of this event can immediately be sent to SiMP™.
- With the SiB™ you are given the ability to enter more than one WiFi access point, if you experience a problem with your preferred AP, the SiB™ will automatically switch to any of the next available, making sure that no matter what, the SiB™ is always able to get that important message or data to you.
1000 SiB™ EARLY BIRD Incentive
We all know that Kickstarter is a place where you come to back that great new idea that will make your life a little better or more fun or both. We also know that the projects we see are prototypes and that proper manufacturing requires time and patience.
But what if we told you that we are a tad different, that we know most people can't wait to see what they bought and touch, experiment and play with it - after all, we know how you feel because we are just like that ourselves! To satisfy that urge, we have been working overtime to make 1000 SiB™ buttons! The goal is to have buttons ready to send to our most ardent backers before the end of this year (meaning 2018 just to be clear!). We are taking a big gamble in hoping that we will reach our funding goal, and, being the festive season, we want to send out SiB™ buttons as soon (as soooon) as the funding event is finished (yes this is a gamble).
How will it work? We will allocate one of these early SiBs™ per pledge, starting from the largest backers, until all 1000 buttons are sent.
There is a catch however, these SiBs™ are being built just like all the prototypes we've tested and used internally for months - that means the casing is all done in our 3D SLA printers (thank you Formlabs!) and although the finish is lovely, the impact resistance, etc, is not as good as the commercial plastic materials that will be used in our final manufacturing process.
In addition, the special expansion plug is not available in these 1000 units. 3D printing is very expensive and slow and we're trying to get these done in record time; including the expansion port properly on these units makes this special offer unattainable. These SiB™ buttons will only be able to be used for applications that don't require an accessory - sorry, a minor limitation!
Finally, shipping: this is one part we can't control and although we have factored in shipping into the pledges, if you are selected to receive one of these 1000 early units and accept it, we may ask you to pay for the extra shipping... as you can imagine, at $5 a SiB™ button, we're not profiting enough to even pay for the glue in a stamp!
SiMP™ The App
SiMP™ stands for Secure Instant Messaging Platform - it is where it all began. Five years ago we set out to make an ultra secure messaging platform as a result of all the existing messaging apps letting us down when it came to privacy and security. Our goal was to make a commercial grade consumer / business app that users could trust. At the core of SiMP™ is a very high grade of encryption algorithms and mechanisms to ensure that all communications are secure and completely private. SiMP™ however, due to its powerful features and de-centralized characteristics took longer to make than expected and along the way, SiB™ was born. It was natural for us to tie the two together!
Unlike traditional offerings you might find on the market with questionable intentions and origins, SiMP™ is a platform you can trust because security and privacy have been the two key parameters that SiMP™ was born from.
Although very refined, SiMP™ is STILL in Beta form at this stage - while its not 100% perfect, we are working overtime to make it perfect and release it.
SiMP™ will be available before the holiday break in the Google Play store and shortly after in the Apple store as well. Please be gentle when giving it reviews; we ask that you consider the amount of hard work and effort it takes to build such an app and that if it has a quirk or two, we will address it as soon as possible and rectify it as long as you give us a chance.
The Story behind the Product!
The SiB™ was invented by our company's founder, Eli Traitel. Eli wanted to automate a few tasks in and around his home. There were many existing do-it-yourself IoT projects in existence, but they all required an advanced knowledge of electronics and software development, making them unsuitable for immediate use. On the other hand, solutions that were more complete, tended to be limited in scope to very specific tasks, and normally had a significantly higher cost attached to them.
This is how the SiB™ was born. The goal was to create a small, long-lasting, self-contained device that could be attached to any of a number of different sensors to perform different tasks. The SiB™ can be attached to a sensor with no technical knowledge, and the SiB™ can make immediate use of the sensor by deploying one of many predefined programs through SiMP™.
Eli started building his career from the young age of 12, repairing broken IT equipment (mainly computers) and selling them for a profit. Eli’s first formal job was at a used computer sales store in 1994 where he worked for a year before venturing on his own and starting the very first “mobile computer repair company” in New Zealand. At age 17, only a year after starting his computer repair company (EliTe Computech Ltd) and building up a significant local presence, he made an offer to his previous employer and purchased the company he used to work for (Second Byte Ltd), which included stock, customer data, and continued employment of a few key members of staff.
By the time he was 18, he had acquired 3 competitor's companies and had become a well respected and renowned technologist in the capital (Wellington) of the small island country.
After selling his company, he moved to Australia to pursue larger goals and started a telecommunications company in 2003. That company (TraiTel Telecommunications) and its success, is what brought him eventually to the United States where expansion in the telecommunications sector was the priority. However, along the way, the SiB idea was born! and became the focus for him as well as his trusted and loyal team members.
Eli's goals over the next few years is to continue focusing on growing TraiTel Telecommunications as well as TraiTel Technologies and of course, the ongoing development of the SiB button and the SiMP app!

Customs and Duties Information
Our prices DO NOT include VAT, GST or other country taxes.
Our terms of sale for international orders are FOB destination. This means that you pay all freight and duties or taxes. As we are shipping these products all over the world, it is impossible for us to take into account the various duties, VAT and GST taxes for each location through Kickstarter.

For international customers who are required to pay customs, you will receive an email from your local customs authorities asking for payment to have your order processed through customs. Unfortunately, there is no legal way around customs (including marking an order as a gift, which we cannot do). Once you make that payment to the customs broker your order will be processed for final delivery.
It is critical that you enter your correct, valid address when placing your order. If our shipping carrier attempts delivery to you and you don't get it because you’re not there, wrong address or moved without notifying us, and the package returns back to our warehouse, it will be the buyer's responsibility to pay the shipping fee to reship the order. When you receive your tracking number, please keep an eye out for the package.

Risks and challenges
As is with any project, there's always risks and challenges. We believe however, that we've already overcome 90% these. The risks were in part R&D, the many prototypes we've built and versions we went through. However, in designing the SiB™, we paid close attention to absolutely every design factor and that means, we have already accounted and understood during the design process that you can't just design something that can be built as a prototype only, it must be also designed in a way that it can be easily manufactured - and this was a challenge that we've proudly overcome and is in part responsible for our ability to be able to offer the SiB™ at such a low cost.
We are therefore certain (not just 99%, but 100%) that every SiB™ button purchased will be able to be manufactured and delivered to our backers as promised.
Admittedly, the accessories didn't receive the same manufacturing attention as the SiB™ did. In part, because accessories actually include a little profit in them and we're aware that some design changes will (might) need to be carried out and so we are 99% confident in this case, that accessories will be able to be delivered to our backers in time as well. However, that 1% DOES exist, where complications might arise - though its important to point out, that any complication will be a design / manufacturing based complication (and the associated delay), but not an inability to deliver.
The SiB™ and its product range is something we've been working on for a very long time and spent a great deal of our energy and money to make it all happen.
