We are back with our 2nd Kickstarter campaign. Our first one was amazing with 280 machetes delivered to 220 backers all over the world. We have received very positive feedback. You can see the comments from this link SIAM Enep Machete. Those compliments encourage us to represent more Thai knives to the world. Today we are very excited to show you our new kind of knife, SIAM PAYAK.
SIAM PAYAK design actually called "Suea Zon Leb" in Thai meaning hidden tiger claws. Local Thai people used to carry this as a concealed weapon in the past. Original design is a little bit smaller, but we have increased its size to be more usable on variety of tasks. This one sheath, double the blades design is truly one-of-a kind. Nowadays, you would rarely find one even in Thailand, and that is a reason why we have chosen this to be our 2nd campaign.
HOW IT'S MADE
We are using S45C carbon steel for SIAM PAYAK. We ordered it as a flat bar.
Cutting the flat bar into a blade shape. The steel is heated to a red-orange and then hammered the sharp side down. When the steel has cooled entirely, a file, a diamond stone, and sometimes a steel scraper are used to outline the blade shape and clean up all surfaces. This stage brings the steel to within a millimetre or two of its final shape at the edge.
Heated the blade again to 820 – 860°C. Quenching it into the special mixture of water to harden. The hardening stage is the most difficult for a piece of steel to endure. If it survives without cracking or warping, it will make the transition from a piece of steel to a live blade. Given its final shape with stones and then polished with successively finer stones and water. Oiling the blade. This takes patience and many hours of hand labour.
For the handle, we have selected a Thai hard wood called Padauk. Shaping the wood to become a handle. Then, attached the blade and the wooden handle together with epoxy glue. Let it dry then drilling the holes. Inserting metal pins to hold them in place. The last step is putting lacquer coating on the handle.

What I Need & What You Get:
SIAM PAYAK is ready for the production. We have suppliers and manufacturers lined up and ready to go. We need your help to bring this campaign to life.
As this campaign comes to an end, I want to thank all of you for your generous support and assure you that what you've received is truly a Thai original and you won't find this kind of knife anywhere else in the world.
In fact, you won't find it again fullstop as this was a one-time offer; we won't be making this style again. So please enjoy your unique knife, show it off, and cheers again for the backing.
Btw, if you have any feedback on this knife or suggestions for another style, please send us a message.
Risks and challenges
I have the manufacturing plan ready to go and will make sure that everything will be on time.
1.Some countries will levy an import tax to receive the goods, in such cases this is the sole responsibility of the backers. From our side, we will declare the lowest price possible.
2.There might be an extra charge from the courier services if the backers change the address during the delivery or live in the remote area, in such cases this is the sole responsibility of the backers.
Please be aware, because our SIAM PAYAK are made by hand, they are not all identical. Each one has its own individual character and is truly one-of-a kind. Expect your knife to come with some unique features, such as small marks and scratches.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
