We are back with our 3rd campaign. Over 280 SIAM Enep and 200 SIAM Payak were delivered last year, and we have received many positive feedback. Those feedback encourages us to keep moving forward. Today we are very excited to show you our new kind of machete, SIAM Etoh.
SIAM ETOH MACHETE
SIAM Etoh is quite well known for hard hitting, and deep cutting. It delivers a 'snap' cut from the heavy weighted tip. This SIAM Etoh is a 100% Thai traditional design. Often used by Thai farmers and landscapers. This rounded spine with the flat edge design is very easy to maintain for both cleaning and sharpening. Just clean it after use with wet and dry cloth. Then apply some multi purpose oil on a steel, and SIAM Etoh will last forever.
HOW IT'S MADE
We are using SK carbon steel to make SIAM Etoh. We ordered it as a sheet and then cut it into shape, so every Etoh will have the same weight and size.
The Etoh shape steel will be heated to a red-orange heat in a charcoal and then hammered the sharp size down and also expand its size.
When the steel has cooled entirely, a file, a diamond stone, and sometimes a steel scraper are used to outline the blade shape and clean up all surfaces. This stage brings the steel to within a millimetre or two of its final shape at the edge.
Hardening and tempering is the most important process to make the blade durable. We heated the steel to a red-orange heat again and dip it into a special mixture of water to harden. The hardening stage is the most difficult for a piece of steel to endure. If it survives without cracking or warping, it will make the transition from a piece of steel to a strong blade.
For the handle, we are using Thai solid wood called Padauk. We attach both wood together on the blade with epoxy glue. Let it dry and then drilling the hole to insert metal pins. The last steps are shaping the wood, and coating with lacquer.

What I Need & What You Get:
SIAM Etoh is ready for the production. We have suppliers and manufacturers lined up and ready to go. We need your help to bring this campaign to life.
As this campaign comes to an end, I want to thank all of you for your generous support and assure you that what you've received is truly a Thai original and you won't find this kind of machete anywhere else in the world.
Risks and challenges
I have the manufacturing plan ready to go and will make sure that everything will be on time.
1.Some countries will levy an import tax to receive the goods, in such cases this is the sole responsibility of the backers. From our side, we will declare the lowest price possible.
2.There might be an extra charge from the courier services if the backers change the address during the delivery or live in the remote area, in such cases this is the sole responsibility of the backers.
Please be aware, because our SIAM Etoh are made by hand, they are not all identical. Each one has its own individual character and is truly one-of-a kind. Expect your reward to come with some unique features, such as small marks and scratches.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
