About
Greetings everyone!
We've been working really hard to produce the follow-up to our critically acclaimed self-titled debut album "Shumaun." That first album was done completely DIY and funded directly by the band. It was an honor having drum legends Mark Zonder (Fates Warning), and Travis Orbin (Darkest Hour) perform on it, and even cooler appearing on the front page of REVOLVER Magazine's website, which had a feature on us. The image below displays just a few of the accolades and reviews we received for that record.

Now it's time for us to "progress" and focus on our sophomore album "One Day Closer to Yesterday." We initially had plans to self-finance this record as well, but have come to a standstill due to lack of funds. We've already spent a few thousand dollars on recording and mixing, but need further assistance to get us over that big hump that musicians always run into while on the path of trying to release an album successfully. This is where you hopefully come in!
We've snagged the wonderful Brett Caldas-Lima at Tower Studio in France to handle the the mixing. Brett has worked with some of our biggest influences such as Pain of Salvation, and Cynic. The total funds we raise together on this Kickstarter campaign, including what we've already spent would cover the costs associated with recording, mixing, mastering, pressing, artwork, merchandise, and PR. Anything more would allow us to finally shoot a legitimate music video!
Stylistically, this album is a bit more raw and heavier than our last one. Guitar wise, there are surprisingly a lot of riffs throughout the album. I use the term "surprisingly" because I never really considered myself to be a riff writer, but somehow that's the natural direction that this album took a turn to. Much of the lyrics were comprised from improved vocal sessions that were further refined in order to capture something real and unfiltered. Many of the vocal melodies were spontaneous. I incorporated more vocal harmonies and vocal textures this time around as well. Tanvir Tomal is playing his heart out on this one... you gotta hear him rip! As always, Jose Mora's bass is tasteful, melodic, and technical all at once, and of course you can hear Tyler Kim's guitar textures throughout the album.
"One Day Closer to Yesterday" has an underlying concept of love gone wrong. The album begins with two souls in a state of preexistence bonded by love, and continues after they are both assigned bodies on Earth. All attempts at a blissful reunion are complicated, as only one of them can recall their state together prior to birth… and yet their connection is undeniable. The album touches on the many real struggles, conflicts, and experiences that romantic relationships might go through... the good, the horribly bad, the spiritual, and terrestrial.

We are confident that Shumaun fans will connect this record, so you can feel confident on your decision to pledge! :)
As always, thank you from the bottom of our hearts. It's because people like you that we are able to do what we do and share our passion with the world at large. Please spread the word, and if you cannot pledge, please share with someone who might like to.
Much love,

Risks and challenges
There aren't any foreseeable risks involved with your pledge as it relates to us getting the album out on time and to you with the associated merch. The only real possible delays we can predict at this point is getting the cover songs ready exactly when we state we will due to studio time conflicts, and how the writing is coming along for our renditions of songs chosen for us to cover. Rest assured that we will follow through!
