Dog is a short film about a young man named Percy, who one night, sees a news report on terrorism. Wanting to do his bit for the anti-terror cause, Percy enlists the aid of a mentor, Chuck, a failed soldier and extreme racist. Under Chuck's direction, Percy himself becomes a terrorist, victimizing a neighborhood Muslim, Atash, by kidnapping and killing Atash's beloved pet dog.
Atash, heartbroken that his best friend has gone missing, spends his nights and days trying to find him as Percy gradually escapes the toxic yoke of Chuck's paranoia.
Regretting what he's done, Percy struggles to find a way to atone for his heinous deed, setting the stage for a final confrontation between himself, Chuck, and Atash.
The film is budgeted for $7500, but we have set a minimum "get it made" budget at $5000, which is what we're asking for here on Kickstarter.
Where's the money going?
Well, in addition to renting quality lights and cameras, we're going to be paying our professional cast and crew. Sure, they've all agreed to do it on the cheap, but their time is valuable, and we feel obligated to compensate them at least a modest amount (which will also meet California labor law requirements).
On top of that, the climactic scene of "Dog" involves a fire, and setting things on fire isn't cheap.
