About this project
Why are we funding this project through Kickstarter? We wanted to tell an AWESOME story about the relationships that exist between a father and a daughter even when the father is absent from the home. And what better way to do it and have fun with it than with a bit of super hero action right?!
Now before we get into this issue, we should probably bring you up to speed with the previous issues. So....
We learned in issues #1 and #2 of Like Father, Like Daughter that this is the story about a teenage girl named Casey whose father left her at a young age to become the full time superhero named Invulnerable. She has to deal with seeing her father everywhere in the press and the world loving him while she views him in his true colors; as a man who abandoned his true responsibilities as a parent! We also learned that Casey has now developed some of the same super human powers that her father has.
Issue #3 saw Casey coming face to face with her father, Invulnerable, for the first time in ten years. Since we released issue #3 directly, we've added the issue into this campaign as well for anyone who missed it.
Which brings us back to issue #4! Casey decides that the best way to learn about her powers, is by going right to the source. Her father. This issue will conclude the first story arc for the series and send the story in a surprising new direction!!!
Like the previous issues all of the funding will go towards the production of this project as we have reassembled the creative team to make this project perfect! Once the production is completed we'll be heading right to the printer so that you can have your copy of issue #4 in your hands! We've already started production on the issue and it is already coming together nicely. Check out some of the pages in production below!
We have so many cool rewards for this campaign that we felt it would be only right to walk you through them! Grab one of the Early Bird "Catch Up" Rewards if you're new to the series and you'll get PDF versions of all of the previous issues as well as your printed copy of this issue!!!
But don't worry if you miss out on those because the next tiers get you PDFs to issues 1 - 3 also. Additionally you'll also get a short prequel story in issue #3.5 (Did you notice Casey's outfit? Wonder what that's all about?) as well as a cool pin up that perfectly conveys how FUN this series is!!!
If you're looking for more swag, you're in luck because moving along will score you this beautifully illustrated variant cover depicting Casey in the real world by one of our favorite fan artist!!! Check it out below!
Make 100: Here's where the real fun starts! We're participating in Kickstarter's "Make 100" challenge and we wanted to pull out some good stuff. So we started off with another exclusive variant cover (again with Casey dressed in her father's uniform!? Are we hinting at something here?). This cover will not be available after this campaign!
Make 100: We also wanted to show off some of our friends indie female characters so we teamed Casey up with "Glory" (upper left...from our Upcoming series "Gritt"), Chris Thomasma's "Clarity Girl" (upper right), John Crowther's "Rochelle: The Teenage Cockroach" (bottom right), Dorphise Jean's "Destiny" (lower left) and Ramel Hill's Pinkwing (from the Upcoming Pinkwing and The Prime-Controller). What better way to showcase strong INDEPENDENT FEMALE HEROES right? This is an AWESOME Pin Up that showcases our support of ALL indie comics.
Make 100: But we didn't stop there! We also threw in the "Off Day" short from our Nightwasp campaign because not only does Invulnerable make an appearance in this story, but this story leads directly into events of Like Father, Like Daughter #4.
Make 100: Kat "Comic Uno" Calamia has been hard at work on the Like Father, Like Daughter Series...but she's finally ready to spread her wings with her second title to begin building her Comic Uno-verse™. With the first issue nearing completion, we felt why not add it to this campaign? So as part of the "Make 100" reward, you will also get the full debut issue of Comic Uno's newest title "They Call Her....The Dancer".
Check out the description to the right to see even more goodies that we're offering on the "Make 100" challenge!
But we couldn't do a campaign without at least bringing up action figures as that's a hallmark of our Kickstarters now. So we've got two AWESOME rewards for you to check out to the right as well. But here's a few pictures to get the excitement going while you pick out which one you want.
And finally....we'd love to have YOU cameo in Like Father, Like Daughter in either a story or on a cover and we've got some AWESOME rewards to make that happen. The funny thing is....one of the first people to cameo in Like Father, Like Daughter was actually the creator herself, Comic Uno. She debuted with her original YouTube partner Luke to reform "Comic Duo" in a short companion issue that was tons of fun. Check it out here! Your's could be next!!!
So what are you waiting for! Check out the rewards to the right and sign up to get in on the action! Share this campaign with your friends and family that LOVE comics like us. And stay tuned for more announcements throughout this entire campaign. Thanks for checking out this campaign. We hope you will become a backer.
Risks and challenges
We've attempted to manage all of the risks associated with this project by doing most of the leg work before this campaign's launch from selecting the right artists and negotiating rates with various production houses for items that we cannot produce in-house.
As we did with our previous Kickstarters we will consistently update backers and supporters with any issues that may potentially cause delays in the completion of this project and make the necessary adjustments to resolve those matters quickly and efficiently.
We understand the importance of fulfilling our promises and always ensure that all of our supporters receive their rewards. And we always find ways to sneak extra swag into our reward packages as a thank you for the patience in supporting our projects on the front end and patiently waiting for them to be completed and delivered....so we can focus on the fun part.....making comics!!!
It's because of your continued support that we are able to make these AWESOME comics! And for that we truly appreciate ALL of our backers and keep a wide open form of communication for you all to reach us at any time.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
