Shiver Me Timbers is a strategic sandbox game with modular miniatures for 2 to 4 players. You will be fighting enemy ships, raiding fortresses, completing missions for the king, hunting treasures, rescuing lost relatives and facing legendary monsters, all in the quest to become the most notorious pirate of your time.
- The open world. Shiver me Timbers lets you choose between many different life paths. Whenever you sit down to play, you will write a unique and epic story.
- The strategies. Shiver Me Timbers offers meaningful, strategic decisions. Luck plays a small part, and the diceless combat is one of the most exciting features of the game.
- The fun. This is a feel-good pirate game. You won’t get eliminated, and players are not rewarded for attacking the weakest opponent.
- The minis. They 24-part modular ships ensure a smooth game flow, grant transparency over what your opponents are up to and will make you smile whenever you upgrade them.
- The stretch goals. We have awesome, fully playtested stretch goals (including several new life goals) waiting in the wings, and would love to include them in the game.
- Full Refund Policy. If you should decide that you don‘t want to keep Shiver Me Timbers, you will receive a full refund of your pledge and your shipping expenses.
- For up to five Players. The 5th player expansions for Shiver Me Timbers allows you to up the player count. And don't worry: The game works really well with that many players.

Each miniature consist of 24 parts, 6 of which are hand painted in four colours. When fully upgraded, the ships are almost 12 cm (5'') long and 7,5 cm (3'') high.
As a strategic sandbox game, Shiver Me Timbers offers countless routes to victory, and combines deep story telling with tightly integrated mechanics and exciting decisions.
Once the game is set up, players take turns, and try to collect as many victory points as possible. Victory points are awarded whenever you reach a life goal, but also for many minor in-game achievements, e. g. for combat victories, successful trades or rescued family members. During their turn, each player gets to take three of the following actions:
Whenever a player accomplishes one of the revealed life goals, they mark it with a token. The first player gets to place his token on the coveted 10 point spot. Every subsequent player receives 5 points. If the goal is one of the goals you secretly chose at the start of the game, you will receive 5 additional points during the end scoring.
Once all but one revealed life goals have been claimed by at least one player, the endgame is triggered. Players finish the round, count up the victory points they collected over the course of the game and crown the winner.

As Kickstarter regulars who backed dozens of projects over the past years, we know that shipping can be a huge issue, and easily overshadow awesome campaigns if things go wrong. This is why we will be partnering with some of the best shipping and fulfillment companies, and do everything to get your games in your hands as quickly and as cheaply as possible.
We will be providing US- and EU-friendly shipping from regional fullfilment centers, so backers in the European Union and the USA won’t have to pay any additional VAT or duties. For all other regions, we are working hard to find the best shipping solutions for you – and we will be considering regional-friendly shipping for any country where the backer numbers cross the required thresholds.

Risks and challenges
Let’s start with the elephant in the room: I’m a first time creator, and I’m asking for a pretty hefty amount of money. I cannot change these facts, but I can give you some background to hopefully earn your trust. So: I’m 45 years old, and I have been working in communications and publishing for more than 20 years. For the past decade, I’ve been leading my own PR agency, and I have managed hundreds of complex publishing projects with large teams and big budgets. I have never failed to deliver the products I promised, and I intend to keep this record.
That said, there are some areas where I definitely lack experience, mostly in manufacturing, logistics and fulfillment. But I have found great partners in each of these areas who will more than compensate my shortcomings. All of them are among the very best in their respective fields, and they all will support us to create a great game for you.
But this is Kickstarter, so the standard word of caution is necessary:
First off, even though we have discussed the project with our partners at Panda GM in depth, some components will probably end up looking different (hopefully nicer and sturdier) from what you can see in the videos, e.g. we are still finetuning the miniatures to ensure they’ll be as robust and easy to handle as possible. And the final designs of other components like the chests and the coins might also be subject to change.
Secondly, there’s always the issue of possible delays. The good news is that the game and all stretch goals are fully designed, developed, tried and tested – and the artwork and the design of the components are also about 95 percent finished. The estimated date of delivery (August 2020) is calculated with a nice buffer, and I am confident we’ll be able deliver in time. But as we're bound to run into some unforeseen surprises during manufacturing and fulfillment (who doesn't?), delays are always possible.
