Whether they’re rocking it out on their home consoles or portable gaming devices, designing the next hit RPG or competing in the Major League Gaming Championship, women are building a gaming world of their own. And yet their interests and achievements are still often subject to slander and silly stereotypes. Fake geek gamer girl? Get real! We're ditching the kitchen. We're grabbing the controllers. We're here to listen to some real stories.
We want to know: How does gaming really fit into women's lives socially and professionally? What challenges do these women face every day? What are they doing to change the way video games are made and perceived?
Support She Got Game and join us in exploring the social labyrinth of gaming from a woman's perspective.

So what angle are we coming from? The best way to learn about our Kickstarter is to watch the She Got Game trailer above. This video explains who we are and what we hope to achieve with your help. As proud as we are of our video clip, it's just that... a promo. It's just a taste of what we plan to create. With proper funding this project has the potential to add a fresh, original voice to current perspectives on gaming.
The bigger the budget, the bigger the impact we can make. The promo gives a taste of what we've done and people we've talked to so far...

The Plan
First, we plan to deliver in-depth coverage of exclusive events and to conduct stimulating interviews with some of the key contributors to video came culture. We will also meet newcomers and fans.
Second, we hope to integrate sketches, parodies and other little gems that help our documentary reflect the vibrant gaming spirit.
In fact, we've already begun. Check for weekly updates on our YouTube channel: www.youtube.com/shegotgamedoc

The following is a list of topics and questions we hope to touch on in the documentary and on the YouTube channel:
- Influential fictional and non-fictional female characters in video games
- Misconceptions of the female video gamer
- Women as casual, hardcore or competitive gamers
- Rewards and challenges of working in the gaming industry
- Experiences of women who work as conceptual artists, composers, programmers, writers, designers, producers and more
- Social groups and communities formed around gaming
- Sexuality in gaming
- The role of video games as a stress reliever
- Fan culture, including cosplay and video game music
- The relationship between fantasy and reality
- Dealing with sexism in games and online
- Men's perspectives on women and gaming
- Game development and social responsibility
- Women who really hate video games
- How do video games affect women's perception of themselves?
- Can video games disrupt lives and relationships?
- Do women tend to play different video games from men? Are they interested in games for different reasons? If so, why? What are those reasons?
- What does the future of game development look like? How can we progress, both technologically and socially? How do we diversify the group of developers and players?
Are there any other topics you would like touched upon? Let us know. We encourage you to contribute your ideas, so we can feature as many perspectives as possible. Don't be shy. Get involved. The more people we have on our team, the better we will do and the more fun we'll have!
We’ve got our protagonist. We’ve figured out how to jump, duck, and roll and we’ve defeated a boss or two. But now we need a 1UP…or a pair of rocket boots…or a mega blaster upgrade. She Got Game is a multi-player adventure, which means the more players involved, the better our chances at winning…with style. Your support and enthusiasm means access to more events, better equipment, and maybe even secret codes to bonus levels...
What does your pledge pay for?
Production expenses such as travel, rental of additional sound and lighting equipment, editing fees, licensing fees, duplication and distribution fees. We are also hoping to expand our crew and bring a few more talented individuals on board. It will take a lot of time and hard work to deliver the level of quality we strive to deliver, but we are 100% devoted.
Risks and challenges
One of our biggest concerns is about getting exclusive interviews and creating diverse, original content. By launching this Kickstarter, we hope to expand our online community and bring more people on board. We already have a ton of super cool interviews and segment ideas, but we need a solid budget in order to move forward.
YouTube attracts a different audience and has different conventions from documentary film making. While our YouTube videos vary in quality and style, we want to create a professional documentary that attracts the attention these women deserve.
My team and I will provide you with a high quality, unique, informative and entertaining documentary that you wouldn't be able to find anywhere else.
