Cash & Carrie is a comic book about two middle school detectives.
Dallas Cash is an investigator and tenacious techie who believes in the supernatural, and Inez Carrie is an investigator as well as the captain of the wrestling team who bases her crime solving skills in realism.
Together, they are best friends who attempt to solve mysteries for schools all around the world.
Inspirations for this all-ages comic book include Disney's animated series Fillmore, Scooby Doo, and the X-Files.
In their debut comic book, the strange disappearance of a school mascot, Misty the Goat, has left a small town without answers. Luckily junior high school friends, Dallas Cash and Inez Carrie, are on the case! With the help of a few friends and some intriguing clues, they narrow down the list of possible suspects... or did Misty magically vanish into thin air? If there's a mystery to be solved, look no further than Cash and Carrie!
Reasons For Creating Cash & Carrie:
The reason why this comic book was created was because I wanted to see more diversity in all ages comics and feature kids of all kinds. There's still a lack of color in mainstream comic books, especially in leading roles and there's an absence of fun adventure/mystery filled books for all-ages audiences. There are a few "good" books for all-ages audiences, but for the most part comic books are catered towards older audiences with moody and dark content, so creating Cash & Carrie was necessary.
That's me! I'm a creator, writer and former comic book executive. From 2010 to 2014 I served as President of Action Lab Entertainment, publisher of such books as the Eisner-nominated Princeless, Katie Cook's Gronk, Shinobi Ninja Princess, Molly Danger and slew of other titles.
I'm the creator and editor of Cash & Carrie, and I'm excited to share this book with the world.
Giulie Speziani is a self-published comic book writer living in Los Angeles. Her most notable titles are By The Slice and 1 Night On Earth. She co-wrote the all-ages indie comic, Golden Age with her husband, Rob Harrington. When she’s not writing, she likes to hang out in the backyard with her dog, Jake.
Giulie is the writer of Cash & Carrie and is able to give the characters in this comic book distinct voices and makes sure that the main characters actually talk as if they were kids and make the comic readable for kids and adults of all ages.
Penny is a cartoonist and illustrator with a passion for cake, cartoons, and comics! Rumor has it she was enchanted (cursed?) by a wizard to have the ability to draw anything, but only in its cutest form.
Penny's art style gives Cash & Carrie the environment and life that's needed to tell these fun and mysterious stories. She's really awesome, and when you read Cash & Carrie you'll understand why.
Kickstarter provides the best opportunity to get the first Cash & Carrie comic book into the hands of those who want a copy.
In March, I tabled at a comic book convention in Dayton, OH and I printed 25 copies of Cash & Carrie to test market it, because I didn't know what kind of audience it would have.
Cash & Carrie sold out on the FIRST DAY.
During and after the convention, for weeks I had people contacting me via social media asking me how they could get a copy, and instead of me trying to print a few copies at a time and have people fight for them, I decided to work with the co-creators and other talented folks to add bonus material and other goodies to give you the opportunity to get something exclusive that you'll only be able to get through this Kickstarter.
What Does The $3,600 Cover?
The money raised for this Kickstarter are to print "special-edition" copies of Cash & Carrie that you will not be able to get anywhere else which includes things such as:
And much, much more!
The "debut comic" contains:
- A 12-page pilot episode
- A brand-new, never-before-seen bonus four page story that introduces a BRAND NEW CHARACTER in the Cash & Carrie Universe that you will only be able to get from this Kickstarter and NOWHERE ELSE!
- Eight pages of pinups
- Concept Artwork
The money raised will also cover all printing costs for these special edition versions of Cash & Carrie, shipping costs, mailing/packaging supplies and other incidentals.
Risks and challenges
I sincerely thank you for considering backing and supporting this project. While all creative projects have their share of challenges, I've done the following to make sure this project is fulfilled and in your hands:
1) The bonus 4-page story that will be added to the CASH & CARRIE comic book is already in production and will be completed shortly after the Kickstarter ends. All Variant Cover artwork has been turned in, as well as necessary pin-ups and other items, so when it's time to print the books it will be an easy process.
2) The company printing our books is very reliable. The company that I'm printing with is the same company that printed the original "test market" copies of CASH & CARRIE and they've never let me down.
3) This isn’t my first Kickstarter. A few years ago I Kickstarted Action Lab Entertainment's "Fracture" comic book, which helped Action Lab launch their first ever direct market series, as well as consulted on other Kickstarter projects. I feel that I have a good grasp on what it takes to handle and a Kickstarter project.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
