TerraQuill Collected is a collection of comics written and drawn over the last two years.
Each story focuses on one or two inhabitants of TerraQuill; some human and some... well, not so human. The stories in TerraQuill Collected revolve around a number of different subjects. A young boy makes a decision between prospects of immortality or a potentially shorter, more meaningful life. An old man prepares dinner for an even older friend, and the two share one final moment of happiness. A village huntress seeks a magical beast against her mother's wishes.
TerraQuill Collected is a 140 page paperback collection of all ten TerraQuill stories, along with a bunch of bonus content in the back. After releasing each comic in print individually, these short stories are finally collected into one traditional-sized black and white volume.
TerraQuill is the continent on which each story takes place. The stories can be read in any order and only subtly tie in with each other. There is an overarching mythology to TerraQuill which will be left to you to discover.
The ten stories appearing in TerraQuill Collected are:
Along with the ten stories, TerraQuill Collected comes with a bunch of bonus content, including a map of TerraQuill, descriptions on each of the TerraQuillian provinces, production notes, early character sketches, and a look at the creative process.
All of the interiors are on watercolour / bristol using traditional mediums.
STRETCH GOALS: Final Round!
Thanks to everyone's hard work getting TerraQuill out there, here are two final goals to work towards. For the Fan-Art stretch goal, the three selected artists will receive a TerraQuill thank-you package:
An ORIGINAL page from TeraQuill Collected
A second copy of the book
A sketch card
Cover prints of TerraQuill issues 1-5.
Five additional packages will be mailed out to random art submitters consisting of all of the above minus the page.
NEW REWARD (Feb. 11th) :
- $80 (Limited to 10)
- Print copy of TerraQuill Collected
- Your name in the back
- A sketch card commission
- One of ten chapter title cards, which you can see below.
Each card is used in the book to introduce the chapters. The cards are painted on 5.5 x 8 inch watercolour paper.
After the $20 tier, every reward includes a piece of original artwork. This includes sketch cards, watercolour commissions, original pages from the book, original TerraQuill cover pages, and more. I wanted everyone to be able to walk away with a piece of original artwork for a decent price. I'm running out of room in my apartment because there are too many pages to look after, so please, help them find decent homes where they'll be treated properly. They just want to be loved.
Commissions will come in your choice of colour or black and white. You can choose any character inside or outside of TerraQuill.
Many of the TerraQuill pages are almost all painted in full colour on 11x17 watercolour paper or bristol. Anyone who chooses an Original Page reward level will receive one of these at random. Though, if you shout out a page you'd prefer via Twitter, I'll do my best to make sure you get it.
This map was crafted using an 11x17 sheet of watercolour paper. The edges have been burned and the sheet has been stained with coffee and baked in the oven. A replica will be in the pages of TerraQuill Collected.
Here's a look at why my funding goal is $4600, and exactly where that money will go. I've sized up the standard packages I'll be sending, and the average shipping amount with packaging is $15. I'll be ordering via PrintNinja.
Quote in CAD from printer (with tax): $3534.00
Shipping estimation: $1000
Kickstarter fees (8%): $363
I set the goal at $4700 in order to reach the goal faster. I'll be paying the majority of the Kickstarter fee out of pocket. If the project makes more than the goal, it will go towards the Kickstarter fee as well as any additional shipping costs needed.
Risks and challenges
Every story has already been written and drawn, and the final print proof has already been compiled. The heavy lifting is done, so there aren't really any risks besides shipping errors. As soon as the project is funded and the money is collected, the book will be sent to print and paid for the same day.
They will all be shipped the week they show up at my door.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
