This campaign seeks to fund a new set of tabletop RPG supplemental cards in the Pixel Loot series. This one features handy tools to help dungeon masters build unique dungeons with interesting backstories, and inspire your own creativity! This will be our 5th set of Pixel Loot cards, with Arms & Armor, Adventuring Gear, Gemstones, and Pixel Loot Blanks already for sale on DriveThruRPG.
Dungeon Maker will feature 50 unique cards, each with a series of four interchangeable plot hooks. Drawing four Dungeon Maker cards and linking these plot hooks together will fill in the backstory for a random dungeon, and may even provide a motivation for your characters to explore it. More importantly, it gives you a series of ideas to trigger your own inspiration, keeping your stories fresh and your players engaged.
Each card has the following four dungeon hook elements:
- Where is the dungeon located?
- Who built it?
- For what purpose?
- What happened to the builders?
In addition, along the bottom of each Dungeon Maker card is a series of four icons that help you randomize your dungeon experience. Each card has a retro pixel art icon (in keeping with the Pixel Loot theme) to represent the following variables:
- How many more exits are in this room (between 0 and 3)?
- What kind of passage is each exit (10 possibilities: locked door, barred door, secret door, etc)?
- Is the door or chest booby trapped (yes or no)?
- What might players have to deal with in this room (10 possibilities: spider webs, green slime, an encounter, a chest, etc)?
The goal of this campaign is to fund the Dungeon Maker cards, but there are already 4 other sets of Pixel Loot cards for both dungeon masters and players. If you don't have any of the previous sets, you can get them at a discount as part of your pledge! Just choose the CHAMPION or ROYALTY reward level. Pixel Loot is a series of supplemental cards for use in any fantasy-themed table-top role-playing game. In previous "treasure card" sets, each card represents a different item, with a name, picture, flavor text, and game stats (cost/weight/damage based on 5e, but perfectly compatible with 3.5, 4e, and Pathfinder). There are a variety of unique items in each deck, intended for DMs to randomly draw when creating loot for their campaigns, or for players to conveniently keep track of what their character carries or wears.
Best of all, Pixel Loot cards have a retro 16-bit style that lets players feel like they're playing an old SNES or Genesis RPG!
Treasure cards are great at simplifying the game for both players and dungeon masters. No rolling or tables are necessary for determining what players find when scouring a dungeon: they simply draw a card, and hold onto it until it's used. The descriptive text on each card is written in a way that helps immerse players in the game world, and some even suggest potential plot hooks.
AS A DUNGEON MASTER, you can customize your players' loot finds by adding or removing cards, or combining multiple decks, then just draw cards at random for quick and easy rewards. No more clunky loot tables and excessive die rolling. Just draw a card and hand it to the player!
AS A PLAYER, you can use Pixel Loot cards to easily keep track of what your character is carrying and using: Put a d20 on the "Arrows" card to help remember how many shots you have left. Put a d6 on the "Trail Rations" card to help remember how many days of food you have left. Does another character need to borrow your rope? Just hand her the "Hempen Rope" card! Never forget who has what, and say goodbye to character sheets blurred with constant erasing and re-writing!
Our minimum funding goal of $200 is all we need to finish up Dungeon Maker and deliver it to your doorstep, but if we can reach some higher funding goals, some free bonus cards will be headed your way as well!
$200 - Minimum funding goal. Success! Cards will start shipping a couple of weeks after the campaign ends.
$400 - FREE ten-card Art Objects set (UNLOCKED): An original collection of varied art objects to go with your Gemstones set: A gilded picture frame, a golden crown, a silver chalice, and more! Every backer will get a copy of these cards at no extra cost!
$800 - FREE twenty-card Trade Goods set (UNLOCKED): A full collection of trade goods, from copper and silk to chickens and goats, with appropriate weights and values. Great for giving your players challenging rewards that make an adventure out of transporting and selling. Every backer will get a copy of these cards at no extra cost!
$1000 - ADD-ON three ten-card Fantasy Arms & Armor sets (UNLOCKED): This goal will unlock three new 10-card sets of treasure cards featuring weapons and armor made by Elves, Dwarves, or Orcs. You can include one of these sets in your reward by adding $3 to your pledge, or all three for $8.
$2000 - 30-card Curious Effects art upgrade (UNLOCKED): You can add this set to your pledge for $8 right now! If we hit this stretch goal, the whole set gets an art overhaul, with a unique effect graphic for each card!
Risks and challenges
Pixel Loot is being manufactured and fulfilled by OneBookShelf (DriveThruRPG/DriveThruCards), a successful print-on-demand publisher of countless card games and role-playing games. We've already published four other Pixel Loot products through their service (and delivered on three successful Kickstarter campaigns before this one), and have always been very pleased with the quality and service they deliver. Pixel Loot cards are printed on the best card stock they have available: Premium 11.8-pt. thickness, 305gsm black core card stock from French paper manufacturer Arjo-Wiggins. This stock or nearly identical stock is used on some of the most popular trading card games.
All of the artwork for Dungeon Maker is already finished! So we just need 2 weeks after the campaign ends to collect funds, and then the manufacturing and shipping (direct from the printer to your doorstep, no middleman) should take 2 to 3 weeks (up to 5 for some international orders). We're planning to get rewards to most backers within a month of campaign end, but if we unlock some stretch goals, the time it takes to produce additional art may push things back a bit (though not by much).Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
