Katie moves in with her best friend Jake. He wants to keep it platonic...too bad the ghost haunting them has other plans!
WHAT IS THIS MOVIE?
"Limbos" is a hilarious paranormal rom-com set in modern day Bushwick, Brooklyn. Katie, sweet and a little naive, moves into a new apartment with her half-genius/half-buffoon best friend Jake. Between their awkwardly creepy landlord Eugene and a build-up of unexplained phenomena, Katie and Jake realize that there is something in the air, and it's not just long repressed sexual tension. It's a ghost! A teenage ghost who can't cross over until he sees our two heroes hook up. How much can they take before giving in to the ghost's demands and endangering their lifelong friendship?
The film will be 15 minutes and shot on the Red Scarlet camera on location in Bushwick. Our goal is a successful international film festival campaign in 2013 and eventually, total comedy domination.

WHO ARE YOU AND HOW DO I KNOW YOU CAN PULL THIS OFF?
Last year, Freddi Scheib came up with an idea for a genre-busting web series and thanks to AMAZING donors like you, that web series went from demented dream to wildly popular reality! Missed Connection has since garnered over 1.1 million views and continues to build a global audience. Here's what the Serial Optimist had to say:
"SO many great comedy series are hitting the web, as you can see here, and another hilariously amazing gem is “Missed Connection” from writer, comedian, and actor Freddi Scheib. “Missed Connection” comes from a personal place, but you wouldn’t know it because it’s so relatable, in a beautifully absurd way. With a stellar cast that includes New York’s finest (comedians), and witty sharp writing from Scheib, “Missed Connection” is no doubt en route to being an online watch-the-newest-episode-as-soon-as-it-hits favorite."
Each member of the Shafted Writers crew is dedicated, professional, enthusiastic, and has a successful track record of their own:
Mike Cheslik [director/editor] is the director of Limbos, he's an NYU senior with an impressive directorial reel. He's an improv champion and a born comic genius. Not only did he create the awesome Missed Connection title sequence, he is also a skilled editor, animator, comic book artist, and web designer. You can see all his work at www.mikecheslik.com

Now he lives in New York and shoots narrative films, music videos, and documentaries but his mind still spends a lot of time in the mountains. You can see his work at BenDeweyFilms.com.

WHY ARE YOU DOING THIS?
We love to make movies. When the crew met on the set of Missed Connection, we had such a fun time filming that we decided that we had to work together again. This film is a passion project that allows us to come together to create something that's gonna knock your socks off. We're all artists who are pursuing our dreams of working and creating full-time in Hollywood and this film, with it's aim of a successful international festival run, will help all of us gain a foothold in the industry.
WHERE IS ALL THIS MONEY GOING?
$9,959 is the minimum that we need to make sure that we get to start shooting this movie. We're shooting for 4 days with a crew of 23 and a cast of 8. We work long hours, so we have to provide everyone breakfast, lunch, and dinner and snacks. That's a lot of food! We have to pay for all of our camera, sound, lighting and grip equipment. Any props or costumes that we can't borrow or get for free we have to rent or buy. There's a lot of paranormal activity special FX in this movie, so we have to buy the props and equipment to make that happen. We have to get insurance to cover any accidental damage, theft, or other misfortunes (we all know how expensive insurance can be). We have to rent a truck to transport the equipment to and from set. That's just to make the movie happen. Once it's done we'll have to raise more funds to pay someone a fair rate to score the movie, spend hours digitally building the special FX so that they look good, and we have to pay festival entrance fees (plus postage for sending in the DVDs).
We believe that something worth doing is worth doing right. Everyone involved holds themselves to a rigorous standard of high-quality production value. We're also thrifty, so we find every way possible to make the best movie for the lowest possible price. None of the $11,173.98 of the final budget (production + post) will be wasted. We're all volunteering our time and talents to the project because we think it's a kick-ass script that needs to get made. Any contributions you can make, even if it's just sending this Kickstarter to your friends will make a difference!
HOW WILL THIS BENEFIT ME?
You can be a part of the magic! We at Shafted Writers are dedicated to our fans, our friends, and our families. We know that we can't make anything without your support. In return for your contributions you'll get your own little piece of this movie, you'll know that you were instrumental in making it happen, and on top you'll get our undying gratitude.
We love you. (For real.)
