In this Kickstarter, every backer over £1 gets 3 books when it is funded! As Stretch Goals are met (initially every £1000), an extra free book is added!
New to Era: Survival? Get the Rulebook Primer for just £1!
Era: Survival (which had a successful launch Kickstarter campaign a year ago!) immerses players in a post-apocalyptic world where multiple factions fight for dominance.
This Kickstarter brings multiple expansions for Era: Survival to you! We start with three (The Swarm, Infected Manual and Tales of the Outlands) and a new book is added for free with each Stretch Goal!
We are also creating a Definitive Edition Rulebook for Era: Survival! When we created the Core Rulebook, we had a number of ideas which couldn't fit. The Definitive Edition is an expanded version which features more background, more character options and more Infected!
Inspired by games such as Fallout and Borderlands, Era: Survival's Gaia has many dangers... but also many opportunities for an enterprising individual!
You can join any of these factions or navigate between them, taking your own path. The only question is:

Era: Survival is one of our most popular games to date. We're constantly being asked for more material to play and, honestly, we are happy to oblige! We want to take this universe a step further and have decided to come back to Kickstarter, hoping for the same level of support we have had for Era: The Consortium's expansions campaign.
Gaia has amazing untapped potential and the 230-page Core Rulebook only scratches the surface: we have 8 expansions firmly planned with many more ideas waiting on standby!
To achieve the best work we've done yet, we have brought together a team of industry veterans to work alongside our existing creative, writing and artistic teams. You'll know their work from other places such as the new Conan RPG, 7th Sea 2nd Edition and many more (as well as the other Era Games in many cases, of course!).
Each expansion brings a new dimension to gameplay: from commanding squads in combat to playing naval battles, from the ability to integrate cybernetic components into your body to legends of the areas beyond civilisation and from what really is within the deadly area known as Fallout to the ability to found your own town and fight off the factions that challenge you!
We are also offering source books for each faction, which will bring not only insight into the history for that faction and how they choose to survive Gaia, but new and unique equipment for each, along with bonus rules in most cases!
This Kickstarter will bring you more expansions as we achieve Stretch Goals - the initial funded goal will bring you 3 expansions, but the further we get, the more expansions you receive, at no extra cost!

For those of you who want to complete your collection of Era: Survival books in Digital format, this is the right choice. It offers the Core Rulebook and Rulebook Primer, along with all the unlocked expansions, all in Digital format!
White Cross Medic (£45)
This tier is ideal for people who want to start out in the Era: Survival universe: it offers the Core Rulebook in Paperback, the Shrink-Wrapped Cards and everyone unlocked expansion in Digital Format.
City Elite Guard (£80)
This tier offers the Hardback Core Rulebook, along with the chance to get your favourite 3 expansions in Paperback! You get the remaining ones in Digital format as well, of course.
Alpha (Collector's Edition) (£180)
For people who love their RPGs to be in Hardbacks, there's nothing that will measure up to this! This Tier gives you the first chance to get hold of the brand new Definitive Edition Rulebook along with all of the expansions in Digital Format. It also gives you the chance to get the special set of Hardback expansion books alongside the Definitive Edition Rulebook!

In Era: Survival, you play as humans trying to survive the post-apocalyptic world of Gaia.
Humanity is facing extinction. There's no cure for the parasite known as Infection: no-one expects that our species will be around in another 100 years. How do you choose to survive?
Are you going to become a Raider, preying on the weak to survive, allowing your weapons to do the talking?
Will you use your cunning to chase rumours of a Vault, armed with a light and a palmtop computer, hoping to uncover treasures left from before the Cataclysm, which will provide wealth beyond your wildest dreams?
Or perhaps you'll take the jobs one of the more powerful factions offers, hoping to work your way up and gain a reward that way?
The choice is yours...
Era: Survival allows you to explore a post-apocalyptic world 100 years after a Cataclysm that spread Infection, turning most of the warm-blooded creatures on Gaia into Mutants and Shambling zombies.
The people of Gaia have fundamentally different views which have led Humanity to splinter into numerous factions. These factions have complicated interactions, some working in near-alliances and others being ready to shoot on sight! Each faction also has its own view on how to survive extinction: while some search for a cure or isolate themselves far from the main centres of population, others seek to harness the power of the Mutants to gain power, or believe that Infection is the best course for Humanity.
Most modern features of Gaia are known and mapped, but Salvagers still exist, searching the ruins of fallen cities for the supplies needed by towns... and some are even lucky enough to find ancient "Vaults" from before the Cataclysm containing treasure troves of supplies.
With the Infected overrunning more towns every day, it's becoming increasingly dangerous out there...

Era d10 is a system that focuses on narrative-driven gaming, with Skills and Attributes that can be combined in any configuration to support player and GM storytelling.
Combat is fast and deadly, with a Kill Threshold providing a lethality to weapons, supporting a straightforward and intuitive system.
Using an Attribute and Skill system, which each define their own areas of influence, you roll your dice depending on what you're attempting - whether Dexterity + Engineering for a precision piece of work, Intelligence + Engineering for a more theoretical problem or Luck + Engineering for a complete long shot, you'll be able to adapt to your circumstances and not just focus on your strengths.
Although you roll more dice the more skilled you are, the number you are attempting to reach varies depending on the difficulty of the action - if shooting someone in clear conditions, the GM would ask for a 7. If someone was laying a mine, more likely a 6. Firing over your shoulder at someone 30 metres away, while crouching behind a low wall would definitely be a 10!Here's a short series of videos showing character creation and some example rolls:
2) Example Gameplay
Each of these Expansions brings a new dimension to gameplay for Era: Survival - we feel it is important for an expansion to truly add something new and different to your games that you could not do before!
While some bring new rules, others bring unique equipment or new portions of history.
The Swarm is like a force of nature - there is no point in being angry when you see a glow on the horizon: you simply run as if it were a storm.
Over the last 5 years, the Swarm have spread southwards from their City of Light in the northern polar region, systematically burning everything their path and changing anyone not Infected into more Drones for their army.
The Swarm Source Book lets you join the Swarm as one of their Specials:
- Command a squad of your own as one of the Ashen
- Access some of the most advanced technology on Gaia as an Artisan
- Control the minds of others through programming techniques as an Abcediary
- and much more!
The Swarm will tame Gaia. Everyone else has a simple choice: stand in their way, and die, or join them.
The Swarm Source Book gives the history of the Swarm and more insight into their true motives. It provides new character creation options and equipment, as well as new squad combat rules!
The Infected Manual collects strange stories from Runners and travellers of the mutations they have encountered.
Encounter brand new types of Infected Mutants and Shamblers in your travels, with new abilities! From glue-like saliva to multiple arms and acquisition of other Infected mutations, experience the denizens of Gaia as never before.
With a brand new random generation system, you could encounter anything around the next corner! Gaia has never been so uncertain...
The Infected Manual makes 100 mutations available for Infected Mutants or Shamblers and provides a simple random generation system for GMs, allowing them to create random encounters in seconds.
Many strange things happen on Gaia and it is not surprising, therefore, that even more unusual tales come from beyond the edge of Human civilisation.
Tales of the Outlands: Legends from the edge of the World collects many of these stories and provides adventure seeds for enterprising groups that are brave enough to leave the cradle of Humanity.
What is out there is said to be amazing and incredible: vaults filled with wealth beyond imagining, mysterious creatures and, it is said, a cure for Infection.
Will you survive this new and dangerous region?
Tales of the Outlands: Legends from the Edge of the World brings copious new information about what lies beyond the areas of Gaia that Humans populate. It offers both stories and adventure seeds for a GM to use if an enterprising group dares to venture so far out.
This brand new campaign guides the characters through the establishment of their own settlement on Gaia. As the founders, they are expected to defend it against all threats... and they will face many!
From Infection and the Mutants and Shamblers that carry it, to Raiders looking to plunder, the first weeks of the new colony are less than ideal. Food shortages, threats from powerful factions with a strategic interest and the sinister Cult of Progression, the party will have their work cut out for them.
There is never a dull moment on the frontier...
Each book of the Foundation Campaign provides 10 gameplay Sessions, including an introductory story, a session briefing, along with full GM Notes. With 5 playable characters, this campaign is ideal for a group who wish to experience Gaia!
The Citizens of Aqua live on a remote floating city, far out in the ocean. This has many advantages: Infection is scarce, the air is safe and hordes of Shamblers seldom reach that far.
The Aqua Source Book lets you join this community, venture to the mainland and fight off any marine Infected that threaten your new way of life.
Aqua is safe, so far out. They will survive whatever happens on the mainland...
The Aqua Source Book gives the history of the faction and more insight into how they live and what they must do to survive on the ocean. It also provides new character creation options and types of equipment, as well as new rules for naval combat!
40% Creation of the Expansions!
Every penny that isn't used for getting the rewards to you will be used for development of the expansions! This will include artwork, writing, layout, editing, proofreading... everything we need to get the expansions made, short of printing (see below!)
10% Kickstarter Fees
Kickstarter takes its usual 8-10% cut. We'll transfer anything that doesn't get taken for that straight into creation!
50% Printing and Shipping
Experience has taught us that the majority of the costs relating to any Kickstarter are getting the rewards out to you guys, safely and in a timely manner. We've had a fair bit of experience now (this is actually our company's 17th Kickstarter!), so we're confident we'll be able to fulfill in a way you'll be satisfied.
Risks and challenges
This is Shades of Vengeance's 17th crowdfunding campaign on Kickstarter, including multiple Core Rulebooks, and even a campaign very similar to this last October, which has been delivered successfully.
While we haven't been mistake-free, we've always delivered on or ahead of time. Each successive Kickstarter builds on the lessons learned from the previous, and we learn fast. At this point, we're confident in our ability to deliver the rewards we're committing to and to keep you informed if there are any delays.
The biggest individual challenge for this Kickstarter, as discovered from the Era: The Consortium - A Universe of Expansions campaign is getting more books finished than we'd expected to unlock! We're learned our lesson from that campaign, though, and have made sure everyone is ready to go if we unlock a little more than expected!
