About this project
In this game, you are a hitman, an assassin who eliminates targets for anyone paying the right amount.
Whether your skill is stealth, approaching your enemies unseen, firing a bullet from a neighbouring rooftop, hacking automated defences or demolishing a building to eliminate everyone inside, you are always in demand. With the protection of the Guild, you need not fear retribution once you escape the scene of the crime - the scrubbers have your back. Every trace of you, every piece of camera footage, everyone who will testify that you were there will vanish without a trace.
All that falls to you is the kill itself and, in that, you're an expert.
Want to give the game a try? The Quickstart Guide features 3 premade characters, a session and enough rules to give it a go!
After a successful Digital-only campaign, we're back on Kickstarter with the printed version of the Era: Hitman Rulebook! We've set a really low goal on this Kickstarter because we want everyone to be certain they will get the Paperback Rulebook they've waited patiently for!
Era: Hitman is a game that gives you the best of both worlds: reality-bending superpowers and the mandate to use them however you like as long as you succeed in your mission!
Inspired by video game titles such as Hitman and Assassin's Creed, this game places you in a modern setting where your mission is to eliminate your target by whatever means necessary.
Characters can choose to have superpowers ranging from force field creation all the way to controlling gravity or electromagnetism!
Running on the critically acclaimed Era d10 Rule Set, gameplay is fast and easy to learn, as well as very adaptable in difficulty level for whatever the group requires!
"A different feel for an assassination game..."
Era: Hitman offers the chance to integrate superpowers into an otherwise modern assassination setting.
It is designed to be similar to the harder difficulty levels of games like the Hitman series, meaning the weapons are deadly and storming buildings with guns blazing is not always the best solution.
Instead, it encourages thinking around the problem and coming up with an ingenious solution, as an unexpected guard identifying the party could mean the loss of a teammate!
When you add the kinetic powers in the game to that, it makes for a truly dangerous environment, which will take wits and skill to survive!
Control Gravity, Time and the Elements!
The Kinetic Abilities in this game range from creation of force-fields and control of fire or water to manipulation of time and the ability to alter gravity, electromagnetism and nuclear forces!
It might sound like this would make the game easy, but then you consider that others may have the same powers...
The powers have a limited use, controlled by a character's Kinetic Points, and as they are used more in a mission, the character becomes less effective - the powers are useful, but will fail if they are used as a constant crutch!
It's Compatible with other Era Games!
The critically acclaimed Era d10 Rule Set that powers our other Tabletop Roleplaying Games has been changed only slightly for Era: Hitman.
The Era d10 Rule Set used in Era: Hitman has Kinetic Powers, which allow various abilities. These operate by rolling a number of dice equal to your remaining Kinetic Points, meaning they diminish as they are used. This interesting mechanic functions seamlessly alongside the existing Era d10 Rule Set.
Our other games range across genres: science fiction (Era: The Consortium), survival horror (Era: Survival), high fantasy (Era: Silence), low fantasy storytelling (Era: Lyres) and superheroes (Era: The Empowered)... and people keep asking the creator, Ed Jowett, whether they all exist in the same universe!
(He says they do, and the clues are there if you look closely!)
You can find reviews of our other games here!
And if you want to experience some of the others, they are available as Add-ons to this Kickstarter.
N.B. This book is a complete game, there are no other rulebooks required to play!
As you've come to expect from us, the book has been beautifully laid out (by Keith Draws), and looks excellent, with full-colour images. The physical version will be printed as an A5 (roughly 8.5 x 5.5) "Pocket" Rulebook. It includes story background, character creation, a list of the abilities and equipment you can obtain and a GM section which offers advice for running this game.
The players are provided with a large number of options for character creation, from a "Background", which in this game affects their stats, to a preferred method of fulfilling their contracts. They have a variety of weapons at their disposal, as well as the Kinetic Powers - everything they need to be the best!
The Digital Extras offer an extra campaign, complete with maps for each session! If you're wondering why you were ambushed in the Quickstart Pack, this is for you!
Our awesome Shades of Vengeance Memory Cards are making a return once again! 4GB and small enough to fit in your wallet (about the thickness of 2 credit cards), these metal memory cards will carry all of your Digital Rewards!
The two types of Collections available feature all of our Tabletop Roleplaying Games (6 in total), either in Digital or in Paperback form. If you're interested in Hardbacks, please contact us!
50% Development & Fulfillment - Half of the money from this Kickstarter will be going straight to print costs and fulfillment of this book!
10% Kickstarter - Kickstarter takes its normal 5% cut, plus 3-5% card fees. Any overestimation here goes to the writers!
20% Writers - Some of the writers have not yet been paid for their work on Era: Hitman, so they are being paid a percentage of the Kickstarter's funds!
20% Stretch Goals - We have some ambitious Stretch Goals in this project and we need to put a good amount of money aside to ensure they are deliverable!
The critically-acclaimed Era d10 Rule Set is a system that focuses on narrative-driven gaming, with Skills and Attributes that are combined in any configuration to support a combination of player and GM storytelling.
The rules could be generally described as "a Success-counting dice pool system where you roll Attribute + Skill in d10s and the difficulty of the task determines which numbers count as Successes. Most rolls are opposed, with whoever gains a greater number of Successes being deemed the winner."

Ed Jowett is continuing to be totally unstoppable in terms of creating new games, attempting to push the boundaries of what people expect from a tabletop RPG that little bit further. Era: Hitman has been an amazing experiment with a fantastic result, that he is very pleased with!
Keith Draws has, as always, contributed the layout of the Rulebook and it's looking stunning! He's followed the themes of the game excellently, as we've come to expect, delivering something that's certainly eye-catching and fun to read. He also created the maps for the campaign section, which we all think look fantastic!
Gustavo Adrian Desimone and Matt Bulahao created the artwork for Era: Hitman, which I'm sure you'll agree is absolutely brilliant! They are new to the team but we've had an absolute blast working together to bring you this book!
Alexander Korchnev has, once again, outdone himself with the graphic design of the logo and of the Kickstarter titles and images. I hope you enjoy his touch on the presentation of this project!

Risks and challenges
Shades of Vengeance has been creating roleplaying games for 5 years now, and we have previously run 18 Kickstarter projects that have been successful. From the beginning, we have shown we will keep on supporting all of our roleplaying game lines with their own adventures, supplements, free downloads and/or podcasts.
This project carries even less risk, because we have already got some printed prototypes of the Pocket Rulebook! We're looking for funding for a whole Print Run of Era: Hitman.
If we reach one or more stretch goals, we can reward our team members with more work and opportunities to showcase their talents in great-looking extras!
Additionally, we will continue our commitment to you to inform you if anything is delayed, as soon as we know ourselves.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
