Champion of Earth (and Dinosoids Expansion)
Join the defence of planet Earth as one of our last heroes, standing against the Alien invasion! Only you can save the world!
This project will only be funded if it reaches its goal by Sun, April 21 2019 8:00 PM UTC +00:00.
Champion of Earth is a fast-paced, light-hearted card game for 1-6 players (1-8 with both Expansions), with a playtime of 20-30 minutes.
Aliens have invaded. However, they have realised that they always lose, so they have revised their tactics this time. They have therefore raised the dead and called forth creatures from the shadows to bolster their army.
Earth was totally unprepared for this sort of attack (for some reason?!), and defences were decimated.
You take the role of one of six surviving champions of Earth...
You must defend the Earth from the various types of invaders using various (and hilarious) pieces of equipment. All you have to do to win - and be proclaimed Champion of Earth - is kill more monsters than the other players. Well, and defeat the invasion! That should be easy, right?
The equipment defeats monsters through number-matching: anything with an equal or higher value than the monster will destroy it. Some equipment has special abilities, which allow it to look at face-down cards, have a bonus against certain types of enemies, or even wipe all of one type of enemy (Alien, Undead, Creature or Dinosoid) off the table!
We've returned to Kickstarter because the Aliens are not yet ready to give up. Seeing their recent defeats as a reason to spur them on, they have activated their horrible "Genetic Re-combinatron", creating gruesome hybrids of human and dinosaur.
These cold-blooded creatures exist only to serve their masters and harbouring a deep hatred of all things warm-blooded, the evil Dinosoids have joined the invading army...
More reviews to come...!
"I'm so glad to see they are still making Expansions: I loved Robots and can't wait for Dinosoids to come out!"
“The game is very well thought-out and fast-paced. It’s very satisfying to steal kills away or throw your partner under the bus!”
"Champion of Earth is an entertaining little game to play during breaks or travelling from A to B. So quick and easy to pick up, you can teach it to anyone."
"When I play this game, saving Earth is a bonus to me, killing other players is the satisfaction."
Please feel free to ask any questions in the comments, and Ed will reply himself, or make a video to explain if needed!
Here's a video of gameplay with the main deck, Kickstarter Expansion Deck and Robots and Cyborgs Expansion as a single player... which Ed somehow won:
10% Kickstarter - Kickstarter takes its usual 8-10% cut. We'll transfer anything that doesn't get taken for that straight into Stretch Goals!
60% Printing and Shipping - Experience has taught us that the majority of the costs relating to any Kickstarter are getting the rewards out to you guys, safely and in a timely manner. We've had a fair bit of experience now (this is actually our company's 20th Kickstarter!), so we're confident we'll be able to fulfil in a way you'll be satisfied.
10% Development Team - Some of the development team have not yet been paid for their work on Champion of Earth, so they are being paid a percentage of the Kickstarter's funds!
20% Stretch Goals - Every penny that isn't used for getting the rewards to you will be used for development - new artwork for the cards and even expansions that we have planned! This will include artwork, layout, editing, proofreading, playtesting... everything we need to get the extras made!
Risks and challenges
Shades of Vengeance has run over 40 Kickstarters over the last 5 years.
We've not always been mistake-free, but we have delivered on every project which funded, and usually beat the delivery timescales we commit to!
We're confident we can deliver this expansion on time: the deck for Dinosoids is already completed and ready for printing with our established printer.
We will keep you informed if there are any delays, as well! If you have any questions, please feel free to reach out via messages or comments.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
