What's The S Factor About?
The S Factor is a 92 page one-shot superhero detective comic about an under appreciated sidekick called Greyfox, who's tired of being second in command to London's premier superhero, Darkfox.
When an opportunity with British Broadcasting Service (BBS) arises for Greyfox to "re-brand" himself through a new dating reality TV show called The S Factor, he jumps at the chance to become, The Symbol.
However, whilst The Symbol (formerly Greyfox) is living it up as a reality TV star, Darkfox suspects that the public is being manipulated into distrusting superheroes. This leads her to investigate who's behind the creation of The S Factor, which results in a battle of epic proportions with all of the contestants at the grand finale.
Will I Like The S Factor?
You'll enjoy this story, if you like comics such as Jupiter's Legacy by Mark Millar or Batman: A Death in the Family by Jim Starlin. Also, to be clear, The S Factor isn't just a story about a sidekick trying to find love, it's a superhero detective story that involves a dating reality TV show, which is being used as a vehicle to manipulate the public.
The S Factor is a story that has been made with a lot of passion for the craft of superhero detective comics, and a successful Kickstarter would help us fund the artist to draw and colour the 84 pages of story.
As well as making a first print run of 92 page, perfect bound full colour comics for all you wonderful backers out there. Plus getting all of the other bits and bobs sent to you that are available through the different reward levels.
My name is Samuel George London, I'm from Hampshire in the UK and I'm a comic book writer. Well, I've got a regular day-job but in my spare time, when I'm not looking after my daughter, I write comic books.
I first came up with the idea of The S Factor at the beginning of 2018, when a friend of mine mentioned to me down the pub that he was watching The Bachelor, and was actually enjoying it. I decided to give it a go and found myself enjoying it but at the same time my comic-book-mind started to wonder what would this be like in a world of superheroes.
By the end of February I had written an outline for the one-shot story and by the end of March I had found the perfect artist. On that note, I'd like to introduce you to our brilliant artist, Chris Panda.
Chris is a full-time artist, originally from France but now living in Berlin, Germany. He has worked for IDW on Micronauts and ROM, as well as running 5 successful Kickstarter projects of his own.
The reason I think Chris is the perfect artist for The S Factor is not only because of his obvious talent but because for the past few years, he has been perfecting his superhero art through his Kicking Ass & Wearing Heels books.
With all of these elements in place, Chris was the ideal person to take on The S Factor and create this fresh new world of superheroes.
In Chris's own words...
"It was a joy to collaborate with Samuel in creating such a vibrant and fresh new world of superheroes. I truly can't wait to share the full story of The S Factor with you!"
And here's what people have said about my previous Kickstarter, Milford Green - a one-shot Victorian alien adventure comic...
"It's a fantastic comic!" Dan Butcher, Awesome Comics Podcast
"One of 2018's must read comics!" Ryan McLelland, 2Guys1Review.com
"a solid debut from London" Alex Thomas, Pipedream Comics
"a charming adventure" Barry Nugent, Geek Syndicate
The script is written, the artist is on board, the printers are ready and as long as we're fully funded, we'll be able to have all of your rewards with you by April 2019.
***More details and information below rewards table.***
This is my second Kickstarter and Chris's sixth, so we're both very familiar with properly scheduling Kickstarter projects as well as keeping to deadlines.
The comic itself, is a 92 page, perfect bound, full colour book printed by Comic Printing UK with a 300gsm silk matt laminated cover and 150gsm silk pages for the interior. The poster and bookmark are also printed on 300gsm card.
Speaking of which, our cinematic poster will be drawn by Back to the Future, Ghostbusters, Supergirl, Breaks and Doctor Who artist Emma Vieceli. It's a true honour to have Emma be a part of The S Factor, and we couldn't be happier!
The t-shirt design isn't finalised yet, as we'd like you, the backers, to vote on which design it should be after we're funded. Once the illustration process is well under way we'll send out two options in February for you to vote on. The voting will then close at the end of February to give us plenty of time to get all the rewards ready to send out promptly in April.
Lastly, for those who haven't come across game cards before, you might have heard of them being called "trump cards". It's a two player game, where you deal the cards out evenly to each player, and the winner is whoever collects all the cards first.
You collect cards by having a higher score on a specific category. Using the cards above as an example - if player one had @SohoPunkChick and said "Fighting Skill - 83", and player two had TN2000, they would reply back "Fighting Skill - 84", and because the score is higher player two would collect @SohoPunkChick from player one. Then it would be player two's turn to choose a category. This way of playing continues until one player has collected all the cards, and becomes the winner.
It's a game that I was obsessed with as a 90's-kid, and it's one that I'm looking forward to playing, with these new superheroes that Chris and I have created.
We have a few stretch goals planned but until the time comes, we're going to keep them as secret as Darkfox's secret identity!
Thanks for reading, and if you have any questions at all please be sure to get in touch, as we're more than happy to help!
Hoping that you're able to help us make our dreams become a reality,
Samuel George London & Chris Panda
