We invite you to help us bring Rayden Valkyrie to the screen in the form of a high-quality TV pilot episode that will introduce a courageous and inspirational female warrior character to audiences all across the world, potentially leading to the genesis of an exciting new television series!
This new project has been formed to produce a 45 to 50 minute TV pilot episode that will feature a high production value, be action-packed with numerous, engaging fight scenes, feature Hollywood-level makeup FX, and everything else that audiences who enjoy popular episodic television shows like Game of Thrones have come to expect. Once the characters, tones, and themes are demonstrated in this pilot episode, our intention is to proceed into a full series of episodes following the travels and adventures of the warrior Rayden Valkyrie. Hers is a world of sorcery, monsters, fearsome warriors, exotic lands, the supernatural, and the sensual and seductive, and pulls no punches in its storytelling.
The pilot episode will showcase the captivating wilderness scenery of Kentucky, with its beautiful, rolling forested hills. Making use of modern production techniques such as aerial drones, this project will display the kind of eye-catching cinematography well-suited for the fantasy and sword and sorcery genres.
The TV pilot episode will face Rayden Valkyrie with a number of great challenges, ranging from the warriors that she and her comrades are pursuing to rescue some innocent captives, to Norse-style elven creatures (much different in nature than the type of elves portrayed in films like Lord of the Rings!), to a Draugr, and even to a pair of seductive, forest-dwelling sorceresses. With a fast pace, lots of action, and dark-edged, atmospheric tones, the pilot episode will showcase the viability of Rayden Valkyrie to serve as the centerpiece of a captivating television series. Rayden is the strong, compelling type of character who can carry an episodic series in the way that Xena, the Warrior Princess did from the mid-1990's until the turn of the Millennium.
Featured in the novel Heart of a Lion from award-winning writer Stephen Zimmer, Rayden Valkyrie is a no-nonsense, honor-driven female warrior whose inner strength is every bit as much compelling as her skills wielding a sword and ax. Her resilience in the face of adversity, willingness to take a stand on behalf of others, and confronts all manner of evils in the world are just some of the reasons why she will be a shining light of inspiration as a character for viewers from all walks of life. Her appeal and the values she represents are universal and resonate from her ancient world setting into the world of today. This is a character that you can be proud to stand with!

Risks and challenges
The risks and challenges of producing any visual project such as a movie or television show revolve around a few key areas, such as scheduling of personnel and deadlines of delivered work, unanticipated weather challenges, and budget overruns.
With regard to schedules and deadlines, The Rayden Valkyrie TV Project is going to involve professional individuals who make their livings by working on deadlines and delivering completed work. This begins with producer/writer/director Stephen Zimmer, whose background includes numerous video project, several short films and a feature that were concluded on time and budget. Stephen, as a writer, has also delivered 11 books that are now in print, as well as spearheading a small press that entails more than 20 authors and 80 titles, each of which were projects in and of themselves. He also was the founder of the Imaginarium Convention, a national creative writing convention now in its third year, and has served on the staff of several conventions and events. He understands working on tight budgets, tight schedules, and everything involved in delivering a finished project or event.
Stephen's attention to deadlines, schedules, and project delivery will be reflected by the rest of the team assembled for this project. Those brought aboard the team and contracted in various capacities will join with a clear understanding of the schedule and deadlines involved.
His activity across multiple spheres of media, such as books and movies, and yearly involvement in mixed-media conventions, has built the kind of network well-suited to finding the right personnel for the right positions to fit the production schedule targets.
With regard to weather-related challenges, the Rayden Valkyrie TV Pilot Project will have the assistance of a private weather service, as well as information from the NWS, to keep an eye on weather issues that might affect a production day outdoors. Weather factors can certainly be present, but pre-planning on the part of the production management with alternate production elements will go further to offset any delays in the overall production schedule. The targeted zone of later July/August historically offers weather patterns in Kentucky that will be conducive to outdoor shooting, but we will be making contingency plans and keeping a close eye on weather developments to ensure efficiency with production and adherence to our schedule.
Stories abound in the indie film and even major Hollywood production realms of cost overruns, and in this area the Rayden Valkyrie TV Pilot Project will budget for contingencies from the outset. In addition, the project will be able to access some additional funding sources if the contingency budgeting does not suffice, though this scenario is a very unlikely possibility.
Unexpected things can certainly happen in the course of a television or film project, but the Rayden Valkyrie TV Pilot Project will be guided with an eye toward contingencies, overruns, and will draw off of extensive experience in working with limited budgets, tight deadlines, and troubleshooting/problem-solving to keep a production on schedule and budget.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
