Every day 6,000,000 senior citizens go hungry in the United States. And, whether we want to face it or not, one day we will all be old too. As the chasm between the "Haves and the Have Nots" widens there is the harsh reality that any of one of us could end up without the means necessary to buy food and add to this sad statistic. Now, some people may argue that seniors have had a lifetime to plan for their future or retirement but none of us can predict what scenarios, medical problems, unexpected costs or job loss can occur and how those situations can adversely impact our lives. If any of these things happen in our lives then who knows how it will affect us while we try to maintain our dignity. Since we live in the wealthiest country in the world there is hope. This documentary also shows the people, organizations and services who are working to make a difference and feed the many seniors in America. As someone in LA said, "In America it's not matter of money and food; it's a matter of resources."
But good documentaries don't just tell the story - they FIND it. Our extensive research has uncovered the stories that need to be told in LA, San Francisco, Appalachia, Orlando, New York, New Jersey and Massachusetts and Washington, D.C. - and now we just need to be able to get to them.
This film is currently in production and we have the funds to complete 3/4 of this project. We also have all the equipment necessary and our videographers, editors, photographers and composer are all signed on ready to go.
In order for this to be a national documentary with a true snapshot of the struggles in America we need to travel all over the United States and we are turning to the great community here for assistance, as we just need to raise funds to cover those costs.
We know there is a lot of trouble in this world and there are many great causes to support. But we believe this is an issue that effects everyone in the world... eventually.
