I am creating four short documentary films about four different groups in Ethiopia working with poor children, orphans and widows.
The footage is shot, the jetlag has subsided. Now all that is left is ~1,200 hours of post-production work to create four films that will help to change the lives of thousands of Ethiopian children, orphans and widows by raising awareness for the organizations that support them.
In order to finish these four films, I hope to raise a minimum of $15,000 to cover the expense of post-production. I need your financial support to accomplish this goal and bring these films into existence. Once funded, I plan to have these films completed and launched by October 1st, 2011.
How will the money be used?
• Editing of HD DSLR footage into finished films
• Color correction, sound design, titling, finishing of the films
• Music scoring / soundtracking
• Ample amounts of coffee and $5 foot long subs to keep Sam going
What if more than $15,000 is raised?
Every dollar beyond the initial $15,000 needed to finish these films will go towards future projects. We are anxious to get back out there and capture more stories all over the globe. Most often, the organizations that need our services the most have the least financial resources to obtain them. Through your donations, we can reach out to these groups and create for them the media they need to help raise awareness for the amazing work they are doing. If we can reach a goal of $30,000 Keith Bolling and I (Sam Nuttmann) will plan and complete another project similar to this one by Spring, 2012.
THE CITY OF ADDIS - A short documentaryThe short film posted on this page titled "The City of Addis" introduces the four projects I am creating individual films for. The four films will be edited in a similar style, using the same quality footage and sound.
THE FEATURED PROJECTS
The Mission Ethiopia project, founded by Dave McIlrath, is an empowerment program working with local churches in Ethiopia to help reach out to women in their community. Today, 56 women (single mothers, widows, and women with HIV) come to 4 local churches in Ethiopia daily for a job in handicraft.

Project 61′s primary purpose is to partner with local organizations in under-privileged areas to develop communities and their residents. Care is given to immediate areas of need such as orphan care and health issues. Through feeding programs and child sponsorships, urgent needs are met to allow for development of long-term solutions.

Embracing Hope Daycare
This project is developing a full day caring environment for poor, vulnerable families in which children would be fed, educated, play, feel valued, acquire social skills, and be loved on while at the same time their parents could be free to seek out work in the community.

The films will be used by the project groups themselves to help raise funds and awareness for the work they do in Ethiopia. The films will be posted on their websites, blogs, facebook pages, etc. and will also be entered into film festivals and related events. The more eyes that see these films, the more people will know about these groups and the problems they are attempting to address and ultimately, more people will get involved and help.
