I've always dreamed of having abs, a v-shaped torso, solid arms, muscular legs, wicked core strength, and hardcore stamina. After looking at countless before and after photos on the web, I became super curious to see if I too could achieve my fitness goals. I was also interested how getting in shape would affect my life as a whole. Would I feel happier? Would my self-esteem improve? Would it be easier to move through life in a fit body? Or would I simply become a narcissistic egotist?
Compelled by these questions and many others, I decided to make a documentary about my fitness journey. Using myself as a lab rat I picked a start date (March 6th, 2015) and began shooting I Want Abs.
Over the next four months, I was able to:
• Drop 16 pounds of excess weight & shed inches off my waist, thighs, hips, & neck
• Gain 11.5 pounds of healthy muscle
• Lose 13.5% body fat
• Substantially increase my stamina & core strength
• Form good eating & exercise habits
• Grow a hearty beard
In addition to the physical changes, my mood improved significantly while training. I’m generally a happy person, but once I implemented a consistent workout routine and tweaked my diet, I noticed a drastic positive shift in my attitude toward life and self-worth.
Along the way I learned some pretty cool things. Here are a few of my takeaways:
1.) Getting in shape is a simple formula. Good program design + consistency = results.
2.) A body is a very adaptive machine. After the initial conditioning phase, eating right and exercising regularly become second nature.
3.) It's just as important "when" you eat as "what" you eat.
4.) Investing in yourself ( i.e. getting healthy by means of diet & exercise) is the best investment you can make.
5.) Choosing healthy habits over unhealthy ones is an act of self-love.
I'm ready to share my abs!
For four months I documented everything. I'm sitting on over 100 hours of one-of-a-kind HD footage. I've captured great interviews, solid workout advice, food prep, and more. Now I want to share it with the world.
I believe that the program I designed for myself can help others get similar results. It focuses on safe functional fitness and mixes up different exercises so you don’t get bored of your workouts. It’s also extremely scalable and can be adapted for men and women of any age or skill level. With this film I want to share my story and inspire others to achieve their own fitness goals.

Risks and challenges
As with any creative endeavor, risks and challenges will arise and will inevitably need to be addressed and circumnavigated. The fact that all the footage for this project has already been shot greatly minimizes any risks that may arise. I am confident that I will be able to navigate through any and all of the challenges and produce a high quality product.
