There is only 14 days until the project reaches it's deadline. If we do not get enough new backers in this time, the project won't go ahead.
At times this thought has me frozen wide eyed in the headlights. However at other times I consider what would happen if we exceeded the goal. Kickstarter allows you to put up a 'stretch' goal, if your project reaches its current goal prior to the deadline.
Recently I read a piece of research that reported that individuals with profound disabilities often have limited social networks, not because of prejudice against them but because people don't know how to interact with them. The first thing I would do, if we were to achieve stretch funding is to create a simple sensory greeting resource which could be used to enable people to have the confidence to greet and get to know someone with profound disabilities. I would make this available free for anyone who wanted it.
The second thing I would aim to do if stretch funded would be to carry out some of the research that is missing. Again, recently I've read research that explains that in the field of people who work with individuals with profound disabilities and special needs there are pockets of good practice but that this good practice often isn't shared. Basically because the people who are great are too busy being great to do research, or to share what they're doing. They're wonderful people busy getting on with it. By evaluating what we do through research and publishing this we put knowledge into the community that others can use to extend our good practice. If I got the chance to put up a stretch goal, this is what I would aim for.
Those are the dreams. The reality is that I'm very concerned about whether we will reach the existing goal. If we don't reach it the project doesn't go ahead. I've loaded a new reward today, which makes a total of three new rewards since we launched, so if you haven't viewed the project in a while please take a look, and see if you can think of someone who might want one of our rewards. Attached is a photo of one of our new fun rewards (He's a touch and a smell experience) there are also more serious rewards as well. Please ask someone you know to back the project today. Together we can take this project to launch, and we may even be able to go beyond that.
Thank you for your support.
