June 3, 2018 UPDATE
"My Girlfriend is a Mermaid!?" is a heartwarming visual novel from Korean developer, TALESshop and Japanese publisher, COSEN. Originally published on GooglePlay and App Store, "My Girlfriend is a Mermaid!?" has only been available in Korean and Japanese.
Both TALESshop and COSEN want to bring this wonderful title to the West but not only do they wish to localize this game in English but they also wish to port it to both PC and Nintendo Switch™. The PC version will be a straight port of the mobile version while the Nintendo Switch version will have additional scenario content, Live2D animation and a new theme song sung by the three heroines of the game.
While everyone involved is excited about bringing "My Girlfriend is a Mermaid!?" we need your support to show them that there's interest in the West. On top of that you'll have a chance to also pledge for some unique goods especially made for this Kickstarter campaign.
──That summer, I met the mermaid you...
Our protagonist lives out in the city but one summer decides to return to his rural hometown and it is there he once again meets his childhood friend, Ion... who is now a mermaid!?
Soon after he also meets Petakko, a mermaid who has lost her memory and Rin, a priestess who looks after mermaids but also has a split personality. It is these encounters that brings our protagonist in contact with the legend surrounding mermaid.
Together with Ion, who is at the center of this mysterious legend, as well as Petakko and Rin, our protagonist's strange summer vacation begins...
Being our first project that is console-focused, this is a project that we are very excited about and are also well aware of the challenges in front of us. While we go through the process of publishing on Nintendo Switch, we're taken into account the timeframe necessary to bring a game to market.
We've had the pleasure of working with COSEN and TALESshop in the past with My Little Kitties and are certainly excited about this new project. TALESshop has done a fantastic job of crafting visual novels based off of Korean light novels and with the help of COSEN are taking a step forward to spread their games to new markets.
"My Girlfriend is a Mermaid!?" features multiple choices and endings that add to the value of this heartwarming story and with the additional content and updates to the game such as the addition of Live2D animation will make this a wonderful addition to the Nintendo Switch library.
In addition, there's some amazing voice talent involved with the game. Fuchigami Mai, voice actress for Ion is best known for her role in Girls und Panzer as Nishizumi Miho which she won the Synergy Award for at the 8th Seiyuu Awards in 2014. In addition she also voiced Iona in Arpeggio of Blue Steel and Hojo Karen in THE iDOLM@STER CINDERELLA GIRLS. Suzaki Aya, voice actress for Petakko is best known for her role in Tamako Market as Kitashirakawa Tamako, Kayano Kaede in Assassination Classroom and Nitta Minami in THE iDOLM@STER CINDERELLA GIRLS. She also won the award for Best Female Newcomer at the 9th Seiyuu Awards in 2015. Kageyama Risa, voice actress for Rin, voices the character of Tsukiyo in the visual novel, Dead End 99% in which she also sings the ending song. She's also fluent in Korean and has been involved in translation work for a number of game projects.
There's a lot of work being put into this project by everyone involved so we're all looking forward to your support to make this project a happen!

Risks and challenges
As this is a game that is currently in development, the challenge will be to make sure that there won't be too much deviation from the release schedule. Budgeting for goods production and shipment are another concern that may impact the timely delivery of rewards to backers.
Nevertheless, we will work closely with the developers to make sure that all estimated deadlines will be hit and in the case delays do happen we will do our best to keep you, the backer as informed as possible throughout the process.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
