Everything started about one year ago when I bought a Nintendo Switch for my son. Because of its unique shape, it didn’t fit well in any of his bags. I asked if he’d like to go shopping for a new bag, but he replied: “No, I want the bag that Papa designs!” And so began the journey to make the perfect bag to carry the Switch around town.
We designed a minimal bag with a focus on protection, accessibility, and quality materials that was just the right size to carry your Switch and a few daily essentials. The removable center divide not only protects your screen but it also holds 12 games. And because it’s removable it means your bag will have a life beyond the Switch, opening up the possibility to carry a variety of things -- even a mirrorless camera and a spare lens.
We wanted to make sure this bag will be useful beyond the life of the Switch. What do you carry in your Switch Bag?
The Standard Switch Bag and the Pro Switch Bag share these remarkable features:
- Vegan friendly
- Durable water resistant fabrics
- Removable shoulder straps with 38mm webbing
- Matte gunmetal hardware: including a custom tri-glide with an engraved Séfu logo
- Removable center divide: protects your screen, holds 12 games, and is held in place by magnets
- Protective foam
- Extra strappy things: attach your bag to your belt or bike handles!
They’re pretty similar to each other, so let’s break down the differences.
Our Pro Switch Bag is made with 500D Cordura Brand Nylon 66 fabric, available in Black and Space Grey. The Pro bag also includes a layer of of Poron XRD Extreme Impact Foam along the sides and bottom. It is a no compromises bag that uses the best materials we could find.
The lid on the Pro Switch Bag uses two 25mm magnetic snap buckles. It’s a one-of-a-kind technology combining the advantages of strong magnets to make them easy to close and secure snap functionality to ensure a high locking force.
The lid on the Standard Switch Bag uses simple magnets for closure. It’s the fastest solution for opening and closing your bag, and strong enough to keep your valuables inside. The 600D Polyester fabric and is available in fun color options. It uses standard EVA foam instead of Poron XRD.
Both the Standard and the Pro Switch Bags include two strips of 38mm webbing with velcro on the back of the bag. Like the rug in The Big Lebowski, it just kinda ties the room together — but it’s not without its functionality!
Take the velcro and attach it to your bicycle, or thread your belt through the loops and wear it as a fanny pack. Maybe attach some carabiners and hang it from your backpack? It’s up to you!
Our Deluxe bag is made from a cowhide exterior and a lambskin interior. Each bag is hand-cut, hand-sewn, and hand-finished by skilled artisans. It features brass alloy hardware with a classic brass finish. At launch the bag will be available in three limited colorways.
This is the perfect bag for the fashion conscious gamer. It's the kind of thing that will look better as it ages and with proper care can last a lifetime. Because it is hand-made our rate of production is limited, and so our reward tiers will be limited as well.
We made our first few prototypes in our own design studio. We've been testing some version our Switch Bag every day for the past year and have brought them with us around the world. Finally we are at the point where we feel confident that you will love your Switch Bag as much as we do.

We are a functional fashion brand. We design products that solve problems, are easy to use, and make you look cool. Our name is pronounced ”Say Foo”. This sound has a few Japanese interpretations that are relevant to our brand, including: “Safe”. With the Séfu Switch Bag we created a simple bag that is protective, stylish, well organized, and easy to access. Now you can bring your Switch with you everywhere you go!
Thomas Grové, Founder and Creative Director
Hey! I'm Thomas Grové. Before becoming a fashion designer, I was a videogame designer. I also collaborated with David Sirlin on the Yomi card game.
Our Switch Bag project is near and dear to my heart for several reasons: First of all it was inspired by my son who told me that he wanted "a bag that Papa designs" for his Nintendo Switch. Next, I'm just a huge fan of the Switch. My most recent game design job was in freemium mobile games which -- I have to be honest -- I like premium games with real buttons! The Switch has captured our imaginations, it has great design, and has proven there's still a market for premium games. And finally, this project has been a way for me to connect my past three years of fashion design experience with my ten years of game design experience.

Risks and challenges
All manufacturing carries risks of delays, including a delay in us receiving the raw materials, to a delay in the scheduling at the factory, to being held up in customs. We have added some padding into our schedule and are partnering with professional shipping, logistics, and factories to minimize these risks.
We are committed to full transparency with our backers and we will be keeping you up to date with the status of the project from the moment the campaign finishes until your Switch Bag arrives safely in your hands.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
