Stretch Goal 2: ReSpeaker Meets Raspberry Pi

26 likes

Dear Backers,

After collecting every backer's comments and messages, we are hearing three major voices for our next Stretch Goal:

  • The Case for ReSpeaker, make it available
  • Mic Array working independently
  • Make Mic Array compatible with Raspberry Pi

Making the case available? We've already made it happen, without setting up a stretch goal : ) , cheers!

As for the rest we think, we've got so many awesome backers supporting us, encouraging us with kind inspiring words, and even helping us share ReSpeaker with their friends, why don't we just take them both, two at a time? So now, we are going to make it as the:

Stretch Goal 2: Mic Array works as an independent device, compatible with Raspberry Pi and many other devices that are equipped with a USB host.

The way it works

To use Mic Array with Raspberry Pi, Mac book, or a device running Linux, all you need is just find a proper USB cable and connect them.

For Windows based device we will provide the driver.

Help us to achieve it

The ReSpeaker campaign has 9 days to go we are just very close to the $200,00 stretch goal, what we need is a little help from you, our awesome backers! Please help us share ReSpeaker(https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/seeed/respeaker-an-open-modular-voice-interface-to-hack) on your Facebook, twitter, Google +, or other social networks. Deeply appreciated!

A bit more about the Case for ReSpeaker Pro

In our previous update we've added the Case for ReSpeaker Pro in some of the rewards, we sorry that we missed mention about the ReSpeaker Deluxe Kit and in fact this Kit also comes with case.

So here we will make a clear statement about the rewards that will include the case in package:

Best Regards,

ReSpeaker Team

      about $6000 shy of $200k :( Does this mean we won't be having this feature at all?

      Why early birds don't get case?

      @Andrew Doherty
      Hi Andrew,

      Thanks for asking. As I just said with Jean, handle multiple Mic Array is possible, but still, as a microphone for audio input, it has to be connected with some other devices to process the received voices(signals).

      We do have plan to sell Mic Array seperately, but it might come later after the KS campaign.

      @Zaghloul Saad
      Hi Zaghloul,

      thank you for the feedback, we couldn't agree more with you. We wish we could make every single board a unique reward and allow backers to do combinations of multiple pledges, but in current situation, KS campaign only allows one backer for one reward. And to solve this, we allow backers to get multiple rewards by increasing their pledge amount. As for the resonable cost, we offer serveral tiers of early bird price that are much lower than the retail price(as much as 60% of retail price).

      Hi Jean, thank you for the questions:
      1. How will you handle the KeyWord Spotting / Hotword ?

      The Mic Array itself does not handle the keyword spotting, it only acts as an audio input, the speech recognition is done by the ReSpeaker core or any other devices you've plug the Mic Array into.

      2. Will it be manage on the Microphone Array or on the device (because it's VERY hard to code)

      It's done by the device.

      3. Handle multiple Mic Array
      Multiple Mic Array is possible, but still, as a microphone for audio input, it has to be connected with some other devices to process the received voices(signals).

      Wow! This are very good news! I do hope we get to $200k.

      I'm sure this is answered somewhere else but, how much should I add to my pledge for a second mic array? If we get to the goal I will definitely be interested in a second one for usb connection. Does it work like a normal audio input on linux/windows with better reception or has any special features?

      I too backed the Respeaker Pro Crazy Early Bird because I knew what a success it would be. It would be a shame for you to punish those of us that believed in the campaign early by not providing us a case, but I have brown filament and will be happy to display your product in a 3D printed turd, if you feel it would bring more attention to my blog posts after I get something up and running with it! Personally I like the aesthetics of the case you have shown better.

      @creator,

      to clarify, I backed for Respeaker Pro crazy early bird. And my question is: Do I get a case, too, or are those reserved for the pledge levels "early bird" and up?

      Thank you and best regards,
      Torsten

      Does this mean we can have multiple mic arrays set up in the house and all talk to one another?
      Will the mic array be bought seperately?

      i prefer if you are allowing the Case's independently and al the add on boards as well and let people pick whatever they need at reasonable cost
      however as fast as you'll execute that as much as you can collect more people supporting your project...

      How will you handle the KeyWord Spotting / Hotword ?
      - Will it be manage on the Microphone Array or on the device (because it's VERY hard to code)
      - Some people asked to handle multiple Mic Array for one device to get a better audio and Mic Array all in the room
