About this project
Explore India at the time of the British Empire and meet characters from all of Rudyard Kipling’s Indian stories. An enormous open world of hand-painted towns and procedurally generated countryside await you! Complete objectives, collect items and garner favour with the spies of the secret service. Combat, stealth and branching narratives provide different challenges and strategies so you can tell your own versions of this wonderful adventure. No two playthroughs will be the same!
We set out to make a game that lets you enjoy Nobel Prize winning writing while exploring a fascinating setting that still divides opinion over a century later. You play the hero, Kimball O’Hara, a mischievous street urchin from Lahore, but your destiny is entirely in your own hands. Will you seek Merit or succumb to violence? There are many ways to survive and flourish in this land of opportunity! Learn more about Kim's different gameplay systems in our FAQ at the bottom of the page.
Kim is ready to play and will launch on Steam Early Access in March 2016 shortly after the Kickstarter finishes. We are running this campaign to build a community of early players, who will help us shepherd the game through to its full launch later in 2016 and beyond! By supporting us now, you will help pay for the game to be thoroughly tested by an external QA company so we can deliver the best experience possible on Windows and Mac (with Linux to follow during Early Access).
Kickstarter is an amazing platform for creators and consumers but there are a lot of ways to run a campaign and we want you to know what to expect from ours:
- No spam - we won't keep reminding you to spread the word, we will ask you once (here) to help make our project a success in any way you like (and we will appreciate it!)
- No extras - we have a clear vision for our game, we don't need stretch goals and we don't want backer-only content.
- No excuses - we will deliver everything we promise.
Spending less time promoting the campaign will reduce the amount of money we raise but it's more important to us that we stay focused on the game and establish a respectful relationship with our supporters.
We love making games and we’re grateful to be able to; this is our way of giving something back. If you are a teacher, please reach out to us! We'd be happy to provide free copies for you and your students. With your help, our game can introduce this fascinating era and inspiring story to the next generation of brave adventurers, kindly philosophers and lovable ne'er-do-wells!
We’re a team of experienced developers, who came together to make something we could be really proud of. We know what it takes to ship a great game and we won’t settle for anything less.

Risks and challenges
Since we already have a playable game, we are confident we can keep to our schedule of launching the game on Steam Early Access in March and then continuing to work on it until full launch in Autumn 2016 and beyond!Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
