The Secret Cabal Gaming Podcast has been rolling full steam ahead for five and a half years releasing high quality and thoughtfully produced tabletop gaming reviews, discussion and entertainment. With this campaign, the plan is not only to continue producing the shows you've come to expect, but to redouble our efforts, push the boundaries of quality and give listeners/viewers more of what they've come to love about The Cabal.
Why We Need Your Help
Doing the Secret Cabal Gaming Podcast for five and a half years has been the most rewarding and fulfilling experience of our lives. To us it has become more than just a hobby, it is a beloved fixture of our lives. We need to see it grow to its fullest potential by gaining the time required to create more and better quality content for our listeners and viewers. Jamie is our lead content creator, editor and producer, and this campaign's ultimate goal is to move him to a full-time media producer to continue growing out media group.
The studio we've been using for some time now is... well basically it's an unfinished room in my basement. I built that gray wall in the back there to shoot video in front of and we clear all of that out and cover it with moving blankets and sound absorption when we recording the podcasts. The floors are bare cement and the ceiling is bare wood and rafters. We would love to spend some of this money to really make that space a real recording studio for both the podcasts and video production. This would take a serious load off my production shoulders and free up even more time while producing the show.
The Chris level will bring you some more personal content about Chris. I would like to develop some behind the scenes content so you can get into the mind of Chris. This will include the promised tour of Chris' gaming closet were games disappear never to be found again.
MORE STEVE. That's what everyone keeps asking for, so I'd like to produce Steve's Joke of the Week video series. Steve is full of them so either they'll be great... or bad... and both are acceptable. Also I'd like to produce a stand-up comedy special featuring Steve. I have some crazy ideas for this one so lets make it happen!
A note about the stretch goals.
Obviously producing videos about Chris and Steve aren't going to cost us much money but what that money will really do is help us achieve even better quality overall. I put the Super Studio goal in there first but the higher we go the more we can do with making our space, equipment and software the best it can be so all of the productions can be top quality - and that includes productions like out ARG, Agents of the Cabal.
The Founders LOVE Ryan Laukat's games, and we're thrilled to be immortalized as character tiles in Red Raven's upcoming title, Near and Far.
And not only that, the reverse will include alternate characters to be played in either Above and Below or Islebound.
One of our favorite Game Designers, Jamey Stegmaier has generously provided us with an encounter card for the hottest game of 2016, Scythe. And check out those airships...those beautiful, beautiful airships. Maybe we'll be seeing those in a future expansion? Maaaaaybe.
And, of course, we couldn't get away with not including one of our best friends in the industry, and the most generous sponsor a podcast could ask for, Mr. Stephen Buonocore of Stronghold Games. He's giving us a great promo card for his amazing game, Terraforming Mars.
Ignacy from Portal Games is, in my opinion, one of our generation's greatest game designers and 51st State is proof of that. Ignacy generously went to work creating an awesome mini expansion that emulates neighboring towns adjacent to the player's empires.
Oh my goodness, The Founders are up to no good plotting the downfall of one of their rival theme parks. Good Games Publishing has been so kind as to create these fantastic promos for their hit game, Unfair!
It all started with the BoardGameGeek.com microbadge war between The Secret Cabal and The Dice Tower (which we won, of course) in which our good friend Bernard issued all the participants challenge coins. Then in 2015 we gave our first official Challenge Coin out at our GenCon meetup. Now they're back with the 2017 edition!
We've wanted to make lapel pins for years, and we're finally doing it as a reward in this fundraiser! There are two versions that are available, our logo 'War Cobra' and the 'Agents of the Cabal' insignia. These are a must-have for the true Cabalist to brandish to show their support!
Bumper stickers are cool. I put them on my car and on my miniatures carrying case. We also have a Cabalist Badge ribbon at every convention, and now you can get yours as part of the fundraiser. Be ready to show everyone your support of the Cabal!
The dinner will be hosted by Stephen Buonocore and the brewmaster. We will first take a tour of the brewing facilities and then come back to a table to have dinner together. All attendees will also receive the limited edition GenCon Block Party glass.
Every year, at both GenCon in Indianapolis and Origins Game Fair in Columbus, The Secret Cabal Gaming Podcast hosts an enormous, come-one-come-all, blowout party. This party includes Cabalists, media creators, designers and publishers alike coming together to blow off some steam at the best gaming conventions in the US.
At each party we have a humongous games raffle with hundreds of games to be given out and a swag bag with all kinds of goodies inside!
With this Kickstarter we can make those meetups better than they've ever been, add more and cooler swag in those goodie sacks and generally upgrade the experience for attendees.
Whether you back the Kickstarter or not, you're 100% welcome to come and hang with the Founders and friends.

WHAT ABOUT SHIPPING?
So shipping is the hardest thing to determine for these projects. You have to figure for everyone around the world so you can be inclusive. To minimize our risk in all of this we have added shipping costs to each backer level that receive physical rewards.
- US Shipping: $5
- Canadian Shipping: $12
- Everywhere Else: $15
I really hope that you all understand why we're instituting these shipping costs on top of the standard pledge level. Too many projects have been ruined by shipping and I (Jamie) have to minimize my risk as much as possible with this endeavor.
NOTE ABOUT BACKER LIMITS: So you may notice that there are actually limits on a the backer levels. The reason this is is that the reward promos are donated by publishers and they only have the ability to provide a certain number of them to us - roughly 2000. We cant exceed those limits. So we have those limits imposed on all the levels that receive promos. If by some strange and amazing circumstance we completely run out of the 2000ish promos during this campaign, will will continue with backer levels sans-promos. It's a good problem to have I suppose.
Risks and challenges
Really the only risk involved with any of this are your normal every day risks of life. I fully plan to continue working day in and day out on the content promised in this Kickstarter but health, accidents or general emergencies are the only things that I think could stop me from the duties I've chosen to take on with this project. Honestly, I'm stretching here to find some risks involved with backing this project... but you know... the "Risks and challenges" section was here with an empty form field so I filled it out.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
