Great questions! The cards will be standard poker size 2.5" x 3.5". The quotes I have been receiving are for 300gsm smooth cards, but I plan on upgrading these to premium poker cards if the Kickstarter does well.
The base Reforge comes with a total of 102 cards. There is an expansion current in development that will add an estimated 18 cards and will be included with all Kickstarter Editions of Reforge that are sold! There are 56 unique cards.
The idea for Reforge came to me in a dream in early 2019. I saw people building swords with cards. Building on that image, I immediately started developing rules, game mechanics, and an art style that would work for a game. It's hard to believe how far the project has come in only a few months. I can't wait to get the idea fully realized!
There are 7 pledge levels to give people a chance to be a part of the game! Tiers 4-7 give people the opportunity to have custom art created by our artist for their game and let them work with our artist to create cards FOR an upcoming expansion and for the final game! Tiers 1-4 let people have the option to back a little more for some small bonuses. It was important for me to have levels that gave people the chance to make a lasting impact on the game. Those require a significant amount of work from our artist, so they are bit more than the lower tiers.
Tiers 4 and up have the added bonus of having custom art made just for you and, in some tiers, for everyone! This means our artist will have to put in a substantial amount of work post-Kickstarter so we would like to be able to given him a little extra if the campaign does well!
Yes! They are currently not available but I am planning to release individual playmats for sale after release that will have unique art from a few artists. The art is still being worked on, but I'm confident they will be available before Reforge ships!
You can definitely use your own dice! We are making the app so people have the option to use it to make a game easier to set up and to make it more approachable for people who may not be used to using polyhedral dice.
