About this Film:
Imagine you meet the person you are supposed to be with -- you know it, they know it… So be with them. It’s obvious, right? But this is real life, and real life is never that simple.
Ben, a photographer on a trip to Japan, meets Emily and they quickly fall in love. However, when Ben returns home to the US, he discovers that Emily is his girlfriend’s older sister.
We have shot 56 pages out of 104 pages of the script. Meaning we have a little more than 50% of the film already shot. But there’s still a lot more to shoot. In spring 2016, we have some of our biggest shoot days ahead of us. We have scenes involving (spoiler alert) a hospital, a wedding, and a town firework show.
The money raised will go specifically to the art department (see above), pushing us through post production (professional sound mix, editing, master coloring), and finally festival submission fees. All in all, we’ve decided we need to raise $22,000 to finish up the film. We’ve already raised $7,000 ourselves through personal savings and equity investors, meaning we need to raise $15,000.
How it works:
Kickstarter is an all or nothing system, meaning if we raise $14,999 — you don’t get charged and we don’t get funded.
So to recap, unless we raise $15,000 or more, we’re back at square one. Please help us reach our goal!
Although he was only there until age 6, Austin considers himself to be a Tokyo kid. It was during his time there that he was introduced to film as an actor and it fueled his passion for storytelling. After spending two years writing the script, Austin will make his directorial debut into feature films with Secondhand Hearts.

Connie got involved with Secondhand Hearts after director and co-worker Austin Everett approached her about producing his film, and before long, she was leaving the tropical shores of Hawaii to film in Orem, Utah.
