We are very excited to finally share our unique idea for a "god game" with the Kickstarter community. (Think Black & White, From Dust, etc. etc.) Give us a chance to tell you WHY we believe in this one... and HOW we can accomplish it.
You... are N.O.N.E. An entity that transcends space and time. During a pivotal point in the cosmic cycle, a system of planets is born. Despite all odds, sentient beings evolve and begin forming societies. These beings call themselves the “SUM.” They sense your presence; you realize you cannot directly communicate with the SUM, but you can influence their actions with one of three muses... chaos, reason and harmony. You strike these chords through an ethereal instrument, guiding the SUM along the paths of peace, exploration or conquest. You may even join their quest for meaning.
As N.ø.N.E. you will shape your universe and guide its inhabitants, throughout the cycle of birth, growth, entropy and inevitable collapse.
N.ø.N.E. explores philosophy, science and spirituality. Often times, "god games" have a one-to-one control mechanic. N.ø.N.E. will be different. You will use music to interact with the world below. By playing the songs of chaos, reason, and harmony, you can guide the SUM... influencing them but not controlling them. Yet you are not the only force in the universe. The SUM can also influence each other. You will find yourself painting worlds by filling their various inhabitants (vessels) with the forces of chaos, reason and harmony. Each game will be a unique composition... and you must learn how to master your instruments.
At its core, N.ø.N.E. is a civilization simulator. All consequences are guided by the aforementioned three muse system. Harmony promotes peace, population expansion, understanding and atrophy. Chaos promotes conquest, border expansion, conviction and disorder. Reason promotes culture, technological advancement, understanding and uncertainty. As N.O.N.E. your role is to use these three muses to guide your culture down the path of prosperity... whatever that means for you.
The Muses are your means of influence on the universe and can be understood most simply as an epic game of rock paper scissors. The difference is that, as N.ø.N.E., you can choose the amount of influence and the area in which the influence is concentrated. As you progress through the game, the options available to you increase and a degree of skill and artistic finesse come into play.
WHAT'S THE POINT... THE PUNCHLINE... THE END GOAL? N.Ø.N.E. will have a variety of goals that increase the depth, replay value, and artistic contribution of each player. After your first planet, those goals will be expand as you attempt various scenarios on the planets in your ever-changing galaxy. As your civilization grows, your goal is to create the most prolific or specific civilization possible before your universe dies and collapses once more into a singularity.
Increase your knowledge by increasing your influence across galaxies. As the SUM spread throughout the galaxy, so too does your influence and collective knowledge, which survives beyond the universe's death and rebirth. Throughout these cycles, explore to unlock the mystery of WHAT and WHY you are.
You're reading this, so you already know that Kickstarter is a great place to fund and raise awareness for great ideas. We’ve spent the past year figuring out how to be a great game development team. Now it's time for us to take all of that knowledge and experience and build a high-concept game from the ground up. We've created a world and characters in which we believe deeply. Now, let’s make it happen with Kickstarter's funding and your support.
Since receiving our OUYA console in the mail, we have enjoyed exploring it and playing fun games by developers like us. What excited us about OUYA was its accessibility to indie developers and its compatibility with development systems like Unity 3D. We wanted to see more games on the OUYA, and we thought we could develop a game for OUYA that tried something groundbreaking. When OUYA launched their Free the Games Fund (#FreetheGames) to match Kickstarter funding for new OUYA games, we knew it was the perfect opportunity for us to get the support we need to make N.ø.N.E.
One last reason we are launching this game on Kickstarter is that N.Ø.N.E. NEEDS TESTING. We can’t think of a better way to engage passionate beta testers ...gamers who enjoy innovating and experiencing different artistic concepts, gameplay ideas and interfaces. For us, Kickstarter is a two-fold opportunity to get both the necessary funding and a team of the best beta testers on the planet.
Planned Release Platforms:
Here is our intention, which may be subject to change. We're doing our best to accommodate as many platforms as possible. There are many factors as to what will be feasible in the end.
We have some great rewards! There are a ton of special digital rewards and a few REALLY special physical rewards. Be sure to see the descriptions on the right for details!

And of course, thank you to the friends, and family who have been with us every step of the way... helping us to create the world of N.Ø.N.E.
We have waited until now to launch this Kickstarter for many reasons. The primary reason is that we now feel confident in our ability to produce this game. OUYA has made the idea of creating a console game possible for our studio as we are familiar with the Android/Google Play system.
Now that we have the ability, the manpower, the will, and hopefully the support and encouragement from gamers who are part of the Kickstarter community, the risk is less but not gone.
Let us share with you, the challenges we will overcome through hard work, determination, and by seeking the wisdom of those participating in the beta release, close friends, and industry professionals:
1. Taking our knowledge and experience with touch-screen interfaces and crafting an enjoyable, approachable hand-held controller experience.
2. Finalizing N.Ø.N.E.'s musical interface through which you manipulate your universe.
3. Personally interfacing and taking care of what we hope is a massive league of beta testers.
4. Crafting something that is not only an enjoyable game, but also a deep, immersive, aesthetic experience.
Susan, Thank you so much for this. We are kind of figuring out the best way to announce and approach this given the 6 month OUYA exclusive requirement. We can DEFINITELY get you a Windows 8 version of the game when we're out of our exclusivity contract. (perhaps even another windows version or STEAM if possible) Our goal is definitely to get this on any computers/devices that will support it. We can get much more specific at some time in the near future when we've researched all the ins and outs. I know OUYA has our best interests in mind and will help us figure it out. Thank you SO MUCH for your encouragement and support!
This is a game in the concept or pre-production phase. We've been talking about the idea for about a year now and when we decided to go ahead and present the idea to the world we had some award winning concept artists as well as our own talented staff go to town and paint some beautiful concept art. (all of this is available in the .pdf art book reward)
What we don't have is gameplay footage. We are doing some tests with various technology that we will do our best to post for you before campaigns end but we can't really guarantee anything specific. We are, however happy to answer any questions you may have regarding the gameplay ideas, UI, etc. Thank you!
We made a decision early-on that any composer who was interested in N.Ø.N.E. will receive a private RFP (request for proposal) for the game's soundtrack if he/she is a pledger at any level! So take out that flat george washington bill (or more, please?) and throw it down because we will definitely consider any pledger for part or all of this task. (paid of course)
