American-Made. Every stitch is done right here in the US, and the sewers who make our dresses are respected, taken care of, and incredibly skilled at what they do. As the world learns more about the dark side of the fast-fashion industry, we’ve decided that there is simply no other choice but to produce this line in a thoughtful and ethical way.
Wear Multiple Ways. Honestly, This part just keeps getting better and better. Our founder Jessie originally made this dress to be worn in four main ways, but every time someone new gets a hold of it? They seem to come up with yet another version! We’re excited to see what happens when our supporters start sharing their own style by tagging #thisismyseason.
- 100% Silk. One of the strongest, most luxurious fibers to ever exist. Our crepe de chine is top notch—we're using a combination of deadstock prints and custom-milled solids to provide the perfect drape for our Pepper Dress. Machine or hand-wash and hang to dry, the silk keeps you cool in the summer and makes a great layering piece for cooler temps.
- Adjustable straps + simple sizing. Once you find the right Pepper Dress, we guarantee it will always fit. The generous drape means that it fits just as beautifully over feminine curves as it does over an athletic build or a smaller chest.
Style for all seasons. It goes from casual to dressy in a heartbeat: Wear it to brunch with girlfriends, over a bathing suit to the beach, as a tunic with leggings, and even with piles of jewelry for a black tie dinner. A fantastic layering piece for both adventure AND everyday life!
- A pattern that makes the most of every thread. The Pepper Dress has simple lines and is made using four identical panels. This makes for a lower yield of fabric and allows us to turn the extra material into the darling silk bandanas you see in the photos here!
Thanks to the drape of our silk fabric paired with adjustable straps, we’ve created three simple sizes that are flattering to all body types. To find your size, simply take the circumference of your bust measurement at it's fullest point.
— Crescent: fits up to a 36” bust.
— Curvy: fits up to a 39” bust.
— Full: fits up to a 42” bust.
If you feel as though you’d need a measurement larger than 43”, please contact us directly and we will do our best to accommodate you!
A Helpful Note About The Models:
— Jessie (in the lilac color) is wearing the Crescent size, and her bust measurement is 30” with a bra size of 32AA (on a good day).
— Michelle (in the black+white printed version) is also wearing the Crescent size, and her bust measurement is 32” with a bra size of 32C.
— Tutti (in solid black) is wearing the Curvy size and her bust measurement is 36” with a bra size of 36D.
Here are a few bra types that we highly recommend:
The strapless underwire. Definitely best for a more polished look, try to find one with a dip in the front so that it becomes completely invisible.
Bralette or dance bra. This is our founder Jessie’s favorite option (if she decides to wear anything at all) and we agree that the visible straps can really become a part of the laid-back style.
The strapless bandeau. It will show on the sides, so choose black or another contrasting color and own it as a part of the look!
- Nothing at all. All of the models in our lookbook photos are braless, and we think they look fabulous (thanks to the help of a handful of pasties)!
All of our dresses are unlined because we do our best to choose fabric that is as opaque as possible. We recommend wearing nude underwear with the black+white printed version, but the solid colors are much more forgiving.
One of the many beautiful things about small-batch production is being able to provide exactly what our customers want… Once we finish funding, the plan is to stock our shop with The Pepper Dress in solid colors, and then we will regularly produce limited editions that are made from a curated selection of deadstock and/or vintage silk. The unique nature of this model is that when we find a great fabric, it will be gone in a flash. Our email subscribers will get first dibs, and you can sign up to be on that list right here!
We’ve only just started, but are already reaching for our stretch goals! If we meet the initial round of funding, it will be time to kick things into high-gear. Here are some of the big daydreams we’re getting very excited about:
- New garments! A convertible caftan + wide-leg drawstring pants are already in the works.
- Custom designed prints! We’d love to hire different artists to create these especially for Season, and are excited to have a portion of the proceeds from these collaborations go toward some of our favorite social organizations.
By pre-ordering your dress during our Kickstarter campaign, you will be helping us build the Season brand in the following ways:
- Purchasing our solid fabric + strap hardware in bulk.
- Paying our US-based sewers.
- Recycled packaging and shipping costs.
- Initial dress development and start-up costs.
The signature Pepper Dress is the star of the show here. Our goal for this campaign is to pre-sell these pieces to fund the first and second run to produced right here in the USA this summer.
Backers who choose the $15 option will receive a 5x7 art print that says, "For everything there is a season."
Our silk bandanas are 17" square and have a fancy serged hem. They're made from the extra fabric from our Pepper Dress and look darling tied around your wrist or a chic ponytail!

She speaks regularly at conferences and retreats across the US, and is also quite proud of the podcast that she co-hosts with her handsome/hilarious husband.
Here is what she has to say about creating this project...
I've worn many hats throughout the fashion industry, and my belief has always been this: Everyone deserves a wardrobe of pieces that help them look and feel fabulous.
Nothing makes me happier than knowing our dresses are gentle on the environment, kind to the hands that sew them, and flattering on the women who wear them for the pursuit of a flavorful life.
My heart has been SO transformed by nearly ten years of working in the fashion industry... Between battles with body image to heartbreak over the treatment in sweatshops abroad, I’ve wondered how I might become part of the solution to some of the seemingly ginormous (and somewhat daunting) problems.
Season began with a prototype that I have worn at least weekly for the past six years (living in three different cities and climates!), and after being asked by dozens of gals where they could find the same thing for themselves, I decided to make it happen and so HERE WE ARE.
I'm still working through two decades of my own fitting-room humility, but for now am SO excited to bring this dress to life as we make something for women who want to look and feel great as they pursue their own flavorful life.
Learn more about Jessie's work right over here, and many thanks to the clients + brands who've become highlights of her career!

Risks and challenges
Transparency for our customers is SO important to us. We’ve worked hard to create a brand that we can be proud of, but here are some of the honest truths about things that could pop up throughout our production:
Ship Date --- Our goal is to get this dress to your closet as soon as humanly possible. That said, there is always a chance that things will take a bit longer than planned. Thank you so much for your patience, and we promise that it will be worth the wait!
Product Changes --- As we refine the dress based on additional community feedback, there may be some slight updates made to the actual garment. Nothing that will affect the overall look, but possibly a few tiny tweaks that will only improve the experience of wearing our dress.
Supplier Coordination --- There are MANY people involved in making a dress line from scratch. We work directly with our independently owned suppliers to make sure that our dresses are totally top-notch. Each type of vendor may encounter their own set of challenges, and we want to be realistic that those may occasionally affect us.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
